Today 4 Cloye's true roller timing chains gave it up to become drink holders. Lot of welding. My back is sore.

I cut the cover that came with the b&m shifter apart to make my pattern. Don't ask how much time I have in this piece already. LOL

If it ain't steel it ain't real. No body filler in this entire piece. Quite a project.

So normally with a hydroboost. The pressure line goes in and then comes out and goes down to the power steering box with a return from there. In my case with electric power steering I'm not using that output. After doing some research I cannot plug that off and have to create a second return going into the plastic reservoir container for the Holly mid mount power steering pump. So how do you drill a hole in a plastic reservoir and put a return in there. Ugh. Only way I can think of is maybe some sort of bulkhead fitting but getting down in there is going to be a b****. Plus the plastic is strengthened on the inside and not a lot of flat areas.

Well looks like crisis averted and easier than I thought. Although that bulkhead fitting is in there backwards so the 45 directs the oil down away from the top of the resi. Meaning I have nothing to grab onto and might have to put a pair of needle nose on it to hold it to tighten the fitting. Had to order those weird fittings that are metric on one side and -6 a.m. on the other. (Going into the Hydroboost.)

Didn't want that second return aerating the oil so I had to do some custom work and then flip my fitting around. Then put a push lock 90 with a short piece of hose down inside. What a pain in the ass this was. Had to cut off part of the dipstick. Just eyeball it.

Used the summit oiler system to pre-oil the engine with 8 quarts of break-in oil. Coolant is all filled up. In the morning I will install the fittings and have the hydraulic system filled up and ready to go for the hydroboost. After 25 months and thousands of hours it looks like we might run this engine tomorrow. I have to wait till the motor is running to pull the side plug off of the automatic transmission. Then I have five quarts ready to go from a pressure cylinder to pump it in. Nice little goodie I found laying around the shop. I will be in the back of the truck right in line of the exhaust trying to reach down and manipulate that plug.

Since the truck does not have brakes yet we will have to ratchet strap front and back to the rack.

So with two hydraulic systems for the brakes there is a Wilwood master in the cab which is part of the first system. Which engages a Jeep clutch slave cylinder which is part of the second system. If anything ever fails in the first system I will lose brakes. So important that I put a real good emergency brake setup in this truck. Really don't have space for a manual lever so I'm considering the electronic e-stop kit. It is a simple push button design and the actuator creates 600 lb of pull to engage the rear emergency brakes. Not only an emergency brake but a safety as well. Thinking this will be the hot ticket. Other thing that is cool is a theft deterrent. You can only engage and disengage when the key is turned on. So once it is locked and you remove the key the rear brakes stay locked.

You're going to fire it up with the trans dry?

You're going to fire it up with the trans dry?
System will hold 12-13 quarts. Right now from bench testing at RPM there is about 5 quarts in the system. Pull the fill plug now and oil runs out. I have to pull the plug in the pan and start putting in fluid right away after it starts and pumps through the trans. Can't check it without the engine running. Fluid level rises with the motor off.

Well four heat cycles and no water getting pumped to the radiator. So then I started putting thermostats in boiling water and got three of them all to open. Pulled the lower hose off and don't see any obstructions like leaving a stupid rag in it. So tomorrow I guess I'll pull the water pump off and look at it. Brand new from the Holley kit but who knows. Very strange that it won't pump water to the radiator.
