1967 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

Well I am learning. Did not realize there is a procedure to fill the cooling system. So

At least I have the ICT steam kit installed correctly. Just need to fill and burp correctly.

Bled it correctly and now the system works as it should. Fans kick on when they are supposed to. Crazy how good that big Dewitts radiator is on a cold day when it is idling. Top hose is hot with the water going in and as you feel down the tank it gets colder and colder and then the bottom hose still ice cold.

I think I came up with a better idea for my emergency brake setup. Just because this truck has such a freaky double hydraulic system brake system. Another redundant system sure would be nice. So if I do a turning break handle with its own little master and fluid. Then they make this kit that bolts right on the back of the C5 hubs. Looks like I can do it all with bolt on stuff.

I've installed an E-Stop or two. They work awesome. 😊
I found a video showing how long it takes for it to engage. And even when I called them they said it took 2 to 4 seconds to fully engage. That matched up to the video. By then I'm into the back of another car. Plus that was using cables and those little tiny five or six inch shoes on the emergency brake. Where as going this route is a legit set of Wilwood calipers and hydraulics to activate them. Ordered all the pieces from drift HQ today. .750 bore on the master.

True, it's a parking brake. It's not really designed for stopping!

It was certainly a dumb idea for me to even think about going that route. Didn't realize I could buy a caliper and a bracket that would bolt on. I was just thinking how much work it was going to be if I had to custom build it. Either way it has to be done right.

You feeling like a back up is necessary isn't a dumb idea. However, following the misnomer of "Emergency brake" is what led you astray.

It's a misused name that won't go away. Much like "hot water heater".

Very pricey but nice stuff. I will feel much better with a backup set of brakes. I will have to get creative to mount this.
