Speed UTV

Clutching seems "loose" to me (I assume because the 300hp turbo is laggy on a 1.0L engine), and there has to be a lot of heatsoak after you turn the thing off and airflow stops.  Curious what the belt temps end up at after sitting for a beer break for a bit.

I assume this didn't come up during testing because it was at a track (consistent input) or RG was driving (WOT at all times).  Not everyone can drive in the dirt this way, and throttle transitions are hard on belts.
Desert is the easiest on belts.

I just read on another forum that 15/34 cars out in the wild have broken belts (it was a screenshot from FB).   If true, that many breaking belts is not a driver issue that is a Speed design/set up issue.

Hope they figure it out before the Speed UTV owners start scattering belts across the dunes and create "speed" bumps (formerly chatter bumps).   If a Speed UTV creates chatter bumps are they double sheared and safe?  LMAO!!!!!

The ductwork from CVT exhaust to turbo seemed to have arrived with the change in material of the exhaust manifold/turbo housing material from Inconel to cast iron. Coincidence? Not likely.

A lot of so-called testing was done with the CVT cover off, it seems.

They need to hire a durability engineer from the auto industry, where they have a strict test regimen.
Unless there was a packaging issue or they needed to meet a weight target (lol), no real reason to go Inconel. You gain some heat/vibration resistance, but the pistons are still made of aluminum and meant to be driven by Joe Schmoe for a long time, so the motor would meltdown before stainless anyway.

It is possible that packaging is part of the equation, as the Speed cylinder head has the exhaust ports/manifold/turbo at the rear in presumably somewhat dead air, with the muffler behind it, and the bed above.

By packaging, I meant Formula 1 type stuff and millimeters matter.

But yeah, for blown cooling of the exhaust, there has to be a reason.  What's around that turbo that will melt?

On FB there is a post about a member of our armed forces getting his new assignment stationed in Italy for next 4 years and has to sell his early spot/deposit.   FB members put it out to Speed and Todd Romano responded and said he will keep the persons locked in price till he returns stateside even though Speed already sold the car after being notified. Guy got his deposit back and when ready gets back in line for same original price of deposit!  Very Cool Speed!

I just realized that post was 2 years old but it’s still cool they stepped up to help the guy out

Like there are not enough belts out there already.  :bangin:

What's with Speed UTV putting out chopped up presentations of old videos last couple days?

It's like pR0n compilation videos :watchporn:
They have to keep up the hype.

He probably has a patent on that style of videos.  🤣🤣

For a RZR die-hard who has owned them all, I thought it was a real world honest opinion how he felt about the Speed.  Im sure Nick has one lined up with a Die-hard X3 owner also....Stay tuned.

I can't wait to see how the Speed UTV is with the "better" brakes.
