Speed UTV

Came across this and wondered what your thoughts are about it. Is it that California has a special law and other states do not? So is it possible somebody in Arizona or Nevada could get screwed?

They can try to keep your money and the will be vigilant about it. Although once you mention legal representation. They seem to come to their senses probably 98% of the time. The dealers are bluffing you 100%. They know it but, they will put enough pressure on the customer to try and make them cave.

Just from my experience. Most dealers don't want the bad press or go to court. Very few will burn the their own reputation over a deposit on a car that will sell anyway.

Oh and the most important part of the document in the photo. If there isn't a contract signed in conjunction with the "Non Refundable Deposit" It isn't valid. The form above is NOT a BINDING CONTRACT.

These guys got 2,500 pre-order reservations since July 1st, only $100 down...$40k for an all EV UTV?

Is the market heading this direction? Polaris already has an EV in the works right?

Has RG mentioned EV ever?

Polaris has had an EV UTV for years. The Ranger EV is badass but more of a utility type UTV.

Robby hinted at making an EV Speed UTV. It will be fast!

Just heard Tupac got his Speed car............... :classic_biggrin:

Robby has hinted at a lot things.

If delivery starts in September, will Robby patent September as Speed Pride month?  LMAO!!!!!
No, he'll patent UTVs sold in September.  Want to sell UTVs in September?  Gotta sue him first...

Speaking of, he's filed and been granted a bunch of patents, but will they actually stand up in court if someone sues?  V-bars, LCA-mounted shocks, turbo aft of axle centerline, etc, aren't exactly a unique design feature that didn't exist prior to his filing.

Maybe he hired the same patent attorneys that work for Big Pharma?

What makes them unique is their implementation on UTV's. That is the specific wording that narrows the scope of the patent.

Sure, but even on UTVs, it wasn't remotely unique.  The V-bar cage has been sold by shitloads of companies, is he going to cease and desist Fabwerx, Madigan, Geiser, etc for patent infringement? They've been building cages with this feature before he'd signed his agreement with Arctic Cat, let alone patented under Speed UTV.

Hell, Can Am has had "V bars" in their catalogue for as long as I can remember:

Double hell, check out these (hilariously executed, I might add) sweet ass rear V bars on the "New For 2012" Maverick...

Maybe he has a Patent Fetish?

Perhaps his patent isn't for the "V bars" per se, but the fact his configuration results in an actual chassis structural component, the "spine" as he calls it, rather than a couple of dead tube bars welded or clamped in between the windshield and dash bar.

Only mostly dead?

Unless someone from the Church of Speed can update with newer drawings?  Front is sorta dead, but likely as good as it gets for other considerations like accessories and legroom.

Rear is good, but X-brace to me was always better for occupant protection since they're better at keeping the corners from hitting you in the noggin in a rollover.
