Grew up going to Ocotillo Wells or Plaster City if my grandfather was testing the race car or truck. Got to do some pre runs in Baja and play trips in Baja. Went to the dunes, mostly Gordon’s with some friends in my early 20’s. Never really got the “Sand Bug”
Then I got into racing Baja and going to the desert was strictly business. Either racing or testing, no time for fun trips. Then I eventually quit racing and was just doing Baja Pre run fun trips. Then we went to the Superstition desert just for fun with some friends & extended family. It was amazing and just like I remembered as a kid. It was something my family was able to do together, as all the Baja stuff was about me.
I sold one of my 2 seat buggy's and bought a RZR4, as the group all had UTV’s. Again another huge success, as I never have to prep it like I did a buggy. No CV’s to prep! Lol! Then got my daughter a little quad so she could learn like I did as a kid. We only do Superstition for several reasons. I still like to do a Baja play trip at least once a year if possible, but unfortunately my last trip was before Covid as we had one planned when Covid broke out and had to canceled it. Maybe next year I’ll get back down there. Planning a huge tip to tip bucket list trip.
