How many Members actually still go to Glamis?

Been on and off for a the past couple years.

Hoping that changes early next year.

We'll see...been a crazy last 19 months. :simrak:

Grew up going to Ocotillo Wells or Plaster City if my grandfather was testing the race car or truck. Got to do some pre runs in Baja and play trips in Baja. Went to the dunes, mostly Gordon’s with some friends in my early 20’s. Never really got the “Sand Bug”

Then I got into racing Baja and going to the desert was strictly business. Either racing or testing, no time for fun trips. Then I eventually quit racing and was just doing Baja Pre run fun trips. Then we went to the Superstition desert just for fun with some friends & extended family. It was amazing and just like I remembered as a kid. It was something my family was able to do together, as all the Baja stuff was about me.

I sold one of my 2 seat buggy's and bought a RZR4, as the group all had UTV’s. Again another huge success, as I never have to prep it like I did a buggy. No CV’s to prep! Lol! Then got my daughter a little quad so she could learn like I did as a kid. We only do Superstition for several reasons. I still like to do a Baja play trip at least once a year if possible, but unfortunately my last trip was before Covid as we had one planned when Covid broke out and had to canceled it. Maybe next year I’ll get back down there. Planning a huge tip to tip bucket list trip.

I’ve been going to Glamis since the mid 1970’s.  Before that Pismo for a few years. It’s always been a family and friends adventure.
It got in my blood and it’s still there. Also got in my kids blood and now the grandkids.

Once Mother “G” gets in your blood you cannot stop going back to see her!

Been going since 2010 when my son and I got quads just to check out the sand.  Had no clue what we were doing and in fact turned around at the top of some dunes because we didn't have the stones to go up or down them.  Fast forward to now and the quads have been long gone after I got a ride in a couple of rails on a long weekend.  Have met a great group and they have become great friends away from the dunes - we're together just about every weekend.  Thought about selling the car just because of the cubic dollars the sport can take.  But the wife actually talked me out of it and she doesn't really like to ride.  It's the time with friends that matters and the memories we make and the campfire bullshit we share.  I'll do it as long as I can afford it - and it will be in a big LS car.  I have no desire to dune in a SXS.  Try to do 5 trips a year.

Love it!!  That's what it's all about!  You are correct though....it takes cubic dollars that are hard to justify in the family budget sometimes!  I'm pretty sure I would have been a millionaire if I didn't have the hobbies I do (Glamis/desert, Havasu, Cars and pew-pews).

since you know live here.. havasu is no longer a hobby, but a way of life 😉

I still go, this year will be a little different with the Moho. I used the 4wd in my truck just about every time I'm there so I'll have to be a little more careful where I go.

Been going since I was a little kid. Maybe 1988-1990 ish. Took a few years off when my career started as I was working nights and weekends and no toys. Been back in now for a few years w/ @BENCH and family! Kids love it, we love it. Good times.

Andrew
