1967 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

Figured out this morning if I come in an hour earlier each day that will give me an extra 144 hours over the next 6 months. See if I can do it.

 
Started at 6:00 a.m. to beat the heat. Hard as I could go for almost 8 hours. Three coats of paint and two coats of clear on everything. I have about one and a quarter cans of paint left so maybe just enough to paint the inside roll cage pieces. That clear is a matte finish and it will dry some more overnight.

Video number two. Five months since my last video. Does not feel like that long but I have gotten a crap load done.  Pushing pretty hard on this thing right now. Forget 1 hour early how about 2 to 3 hours earlier each morning.



 
Challenging is going to be an understatement for this interior. It looks like I'm going to have to shorten the arm for the lock mechanism. Then it won't have enough throw to unlock it. Might have to custom build some sort of lever assembly down inside the door. Or on the back side of the lever extend that arm so it travels further to pull the shorter arm on the other end further. Might be doable

Been spending a lot of time staring at this today before I proceed. My guess is the window will stop about three and three quarter inches from going all the way down. I will have to cut the window channel at the bottom and make a new bracket to secure it. It looks like I may end up right at the very bottom edge of that lever and it might either clear or I only have to shorten it just to pinch.

Made my template out of three pieces to get the proper dimensions. No other way to do it. Used a piece of 2 inch exhaust pipe and good old human bending power to bend those upper two curves. Two-person job. That front angle that goes down to the floor is too close to the tire when it is turned all the way but that's the only way I can see to blend it in. So each side is going to get a little baby gurney bubble.

Here is a better view of it. If I try to bring that flat angle front section forward away from the tire I would have to cut more off the door. Now that I can see what I have to work with it looks like I will be able to lower the window far enough to only have 2 and 5/8 sticking up. Not bad.

That was a lot of work to get both of those trimmed and fit in there. Just the beginning of many days of work in this cab. I need to order some good seat belt brackets from jegs and then I will need to weld in some brackets to my seat frame to bolt those to.
