Tesla

Corolla hybrid is 53/46 and $23k.

Toyota makes a good point about Hybrids being more efficient when you include manufacturing and supply chain.
O'rly?

Haven't had a Toyota since my 2 pickup trucks.

I already have enough Honda's.

:lmao:

In what terrain? Any hills will kill that Honeymoon, quickly.
not by much! lol

I recently just drove from Utah to McCall Idaho in my TDI Wagen. played around with it and learned a few fun facts.

940 miles round trip, including 4 hours of mountain driving. overall trip average was 47mpg. on the hwy cruising at 85-90 (anything over 80 in this car, the mpg goes down per MPH) the whole trip until i hit the base of the mountain... then the fun began! paddle shifters the whole way up, it was only me in the car, so i was enjoying it!

4th gear pinned up hill, the live MPG reading held at 17mpg.... makes me want to make a T trailer and tow my Mazzone with it!

up hill racing around I averaged about 25-35mpg. On the way down it was more like 70-80 mpg

Everyone knows its all about how you drive determines your cost/mile. Theres a lot to be said though for how well these cars do MPG wise at WOT, and it only gets better from there with regular driving

kinda looks like someone tossed a Tesla in the dryer
:classic_biggrin: :5: I don't love the EVs. I see them as being a disposable vehicle once the battery has died and if I'm right, think of the amount of money thrown down that hole. The hybrids are bad too. Once that main battery goes, it's an expensive job but not one that will total out the car.

Pure EV's I agree with you, but I am pretty impressed with Toyota's hybrid.  Now they have decent looking models instead of the Prius.

Don't think I would ever use a full EV.

I am really liking the plug in hybrid though.

At 500 miles and still on first dealer supplied tank of gas.

I saw a story earlier today where DOE Secretary Granholm  went on a road trip to promote EV's. They drove a Cadillac Lyriq which most people can't afford and had to wait in line at a charging station during their trip to recharge which took quite a while. They got busted sending an ICE car ahead to save a spot in line at a charging station. Someone in that line called the police to complain about an ICE car in the EV line.

For the record, I am not anti-EV. I just don't believe that Government has the right to mandate what we drive, and that goes for manipulating markets using administrative rules to achieve their stated goal. Let the free market decide!

Same goes for the green power push. I am anti wind power, one of the biggest scams to be perpetuated on the general public. Solar has it's place as long as there is a sensible form of generation to support/back it up, such as nuclear base load plants and gas peaker plants.
