RV Park Manager About Electric Car's

Here is a good one for you electric car people. We had a Tesla pull into the RV park last week and wanted to charge. Normally we don't let them. I felt sorry for them and said yes. They plugged into a 20-amp 120 outlet (that is the charger they had). Now let me backup a little. They were driving from Santa Fe NM to Lubbock Tx. (That is 312 miles.) The woman told me that the Tesla dealer said they can charge at any RV park. The car showed 92 miles till dead battery. Santa Fe is only 212 miles from Clovis. 212 plus 92 equals 304. So, a Tesla does not get 350 to 375 per charge. Now Lubbock is 101.2 miles from the RV park. (You don't need to be a math whiz to follow this!!!!) When they plugged the car into the pedestal The car showed. (Stay with me here.) "For every hour of charge will get you 5 miles". At that rate it would take 70 hours to get a full charge. They needed to charge for 4 plus hours to guarantee they made it to Lubbock. They stayed for 30 mins, and she got upset and they left. In 30 mins they used 13 kW of electricity. @ 16 cents per kw. The 70 hours would equal over $290.00 for a full charge.
Now I have waited to post this because I had to run the numbers over and over. They came out the same every time. I drive a diesel dually and get 15 mpg if not towing. 42 Gallons of diesel cost $232.56 here and would get me about 630 miles. Pulling 20,000 Lb. trailer I get 9.5 MPG., that is 399 miles for $232.56. I get better mileage for my money driving a diesel. You electric car people need to get with reality. If you own an electric car and take it out of town, you are an idiot. In town I will give you the benefit of the doubt. EXCEPT----- Did the dealer tell you that it costs about $30,000 to replace the batteries in your car. Batteries, according to the Tesla web site last 5 to 7 years. And Batteries are considered "consumable items". Good luck getting them changed under warranty!!!!! I'm done now. Thanks for listening.

There’s a reason so many small diesels exist in Europe. Americans only see the immediate result of zero emissions coming from the tailpipe and they don’t look at the big picture.  The carbon footprint of an electric vehicle is much larger than that of the same diesel powered vehicle.

Also as a side note. Everyone gets their feathers ruffled seeing black smoke, except black smoke is unburnt fuel which falls to the ground. Back to the ground it came out of.  Instead of up into the atmosphere to ruin the ozone layer.  Unfortunately it’s all a visual thing for people and never science or looking at the facts.

Can you get 13Kw of electricity in 30 minutes from a 20 amp outlet? I’m a little rusty with Obongo law of newtons.

Not to discredit the story but the math is wrong unfortunately. a 20 amp circuit can put out 2400 watts an hour. That is 2.4KW not 24KW. So in the story he says 13KW in 30 minutes, it is actually 1.3KW used in 30 minutes.

that story is full of all kinds of Biden math...lol!

13kw in 30 min from a 20amp plug... ya...no!

A standard tesla has a battery capacity of 50kw with the extended range teslas being around 70kw   SO...IF they did pull 13KW in 30min it would take under 2 hours from 0 battery to full for standard range and about 3 for extended.

70KW of full battery @0.13 per kw is $9.10 for full battery.

Yeah, nothing is cheaper, "fuel" $/mile, than electric right now.  There are many, many problems with electric cars, but cost/mile isn't one of them.

You need to check your math.  Most Tesla's are 70-100KW packs.  So even dead at $.13 p/KWh is $13.

If they had their level 2 charger (50 amp service) they would have made that up much quicker.

You cant beat an electric car for cost of ownership.  It's not possible.  I have one and only pay $.08 p/Khw.  I can go over 300 miles for less then $5.  I put new tires on and an air cabin filter.  Thats it.

Im heading to costco now to fill up my bus and toy tank.  I expect $500 to make a 500 mile round trip for Glamis and sand car fuel.

Which is more fun...?

In the sand, or on the way to my bank account? :D

If I had the technical skill, I'd love to copy the guy who made the sand truck out of tesla parts... Other than needing to run a genny to recharge, I'm sold on the idea of it.

The math is whacked and I don't understand why people want to hate electric cars so much.    Sure we're all used to internal combustion engines and especially on this board we are very attached to them but electric cars have their place, why hate?    Who is spreading these lies?  Is it because the leftist regime supports them?

Is it GM, Ford and others trying to protect their existing empires?

To me it just makes sense that we should all support what makes sense.

How can folks be that dumb?  She did have a nice set of hooters though..........  LOL.
Nov 8, 2022 is just around the corner.  You'll say this again.  For example:

Fake news!  People make these videos for the hits and comments.
Maybe they're fake.  Maybe people are complete idiots.
