TCM went bad, no stock anywhere in the country ***UPDATE***2nd update--not good!!

I feel your pain. I had an ECM fail on my 2007.5 Dodge Ram (with the new then 6.7 engine). Shop couldn't find one, but I source parts for a living, at times. I literally searched online and called every single dealership that showed it "in stock" until I found one. I called, the guy said something like "I can't really imagine we have that because I know everyone is looking for one. But, let me walk back there and check." I didn't believe he was really going to, so I asked for him to just put me on hold while he checked. He came back and told me he actually had one! Now, it cost me $2,500 when it was selling for just under $1,000 pre-covid.................but, I got my truck back now!

My son had this as well on his 07 Ram. It was a few years ago and there was some company in Texas that was offering refurbished units, seem like around 900.00 exchange. It took two before we got one that worked though.

Supply Chain Shortage in my industry (electronic components) has been crazy for 24 months.

They are 'catching up. on about 1/2 of the allocated inventory, now back in stock at normal (inflation) cost... but I still have plenty of parts that are 99 weeks, 2024 earliest delivery... so I charge 5-50 X on those, no sh__. :showmoney:

Sorry to hear John.

Well my friend does need this one. Is it for sale?  Where is it?
okc, okla.

i'll get his number and send to you. if you need me to you can arrange payment with him and I can get it and ship to you

i found a 2013 alison 1000 tcm he wants 2400 though, im seeing if its still available. he said you can install at his house to prove it works right in the ad, so would be hard for you to do that lol.

that first one i found already sold for 1k he said

ok last post lol.

I found a guy in texas who I know that is a big dmax guy. he has a guy with 3 left for sale. they are 3500 each, updated to lastest calibration and guaranteed to be good with no issues. waiting on his name and info for you to contact him if interested. i trust this guy to not lead me wrong, he's a good dude and only deals with good upstanding people. has built quite a few show vehicles over the years.

thanks but i think im going to wait,  all these ecus are crazy prices for a "used" ecu that could go bad anytime

GM is making a new one and will be ready April  should be regular price of $700 and all those guys could keep their $2500-4000 ecus/  its an inconvenience right now but i have other vehicles to drive

thanks for your time and efforts

Well as of yesterday still on TCM!  but last week when i called the dealer for an update, they said it would be in early May but they had to do testing so plan on mid june.  if that was the case it would have been 10 months  almost 11 without my truck.

I asked is there anyway to call the "complaint department"  he said yes and gave me a 1-800 number and i called three days ago.  they took my info, what dealer i am using, invoice number etc.   i told them how long i have been without my truck and said they would get back to me.  well today i get a call from the dealer that my TCM was in.  Woot-Woot!   just picked it up, going to have a friend program it for me tonight at 9PM

Praying all goes well

Why won't it work out of the box?
because that TCM fits like 50 different vehicles.  those vehicles have different trannys, some might be 5 speeds some 7 speeds, some gas some diesel etc.  it is very sophisticated, there is a GM linked license and once you have the TCM then you download the vehicle specific programming

Just seems like you could've skipped this whole step if you ordered by VIN.  You can't hardly get anything from them any more without them wanting it first.

Did it work?

it was ordered by VIN  9 months ago  even if the dealers get one in, they need to download it too.  all dealers have the ability to flash the latest calibration file

yes  been driving it for a month now
