TCM went bad, no stock anywhere in the country ***UPDATE***2nd update--not good!!

You might have better luck starting with a totally fresh connector...if you can find it.

Companies like Cinch make a ton of controller housings.

so with no eta in site (truck has been down for close to 3 months)  i have taken the plunge.  i cut my ecu in half with a band saw, using what is left for a header.  i have special connectors coming and am going to make an adapter harness to use a later model TCM. there are some intial risks but if it works out i will be selling these on ebay and competing against the crazy guys selling used TCM's for $3500 and new ones for $5-9k and i could be selling something that works and has a brand new tcm for the $1500-2k range.  i have spent probably 6 hours with schematics and decoding and transferring pins from an 80 pin connector (my turck) down to a 66pin connector found on almost all gm 2016 and newer like CTS, Camaro, corvette and all the trucks  guessing if all goes well i will be up and running in a week
Awesome if it works out for you.  $$$

I can barely see those wires let alone be expected to place them somewhere specific

after about 8 hours of research and work.....  if im really lucky one of the ecus will work with the program  if not i will need to hopefully have them programmed

Well, did it work?
It did not. No seedo. So doesn’t know when to shift. That last wire I don’t have a space for my be the issue. I haven’t given up yet. It’s possible I could use the VSS from tranny and it could work. The problem would be if the relict or has a different tooth count then what the “replicated TOS “ has. There is also a chance it just needs programming

That pic reminds me of a rich guy that had a bentley restored in Mexico....they only had 1 color wire so all the rewiring they did was a bundle of red wires....none marked.....

That's way more patience than I have...... don't give up....

DANG John, that is a lot of effort.  I wonder if it would not be easier/Cheaper/Faster to buy a wrecked truck to steal the TCM out of???

i assume this is for the whole truck and wont sell individual parts?

just talked to chevy and at this point they say long term issue with the part and zero eta

i am still going to reprogram the ecu--maybe thats all it needs now
Correct, whole truck.

Update

So my idea didnt work--yet

the one issue i had was there was one wire present in the old ecu and not in the new one so didn't know if that was a deal breaker.  but what i did was borrow my friends TCM and pulled that wire out (from my harness) and my truck drove fine.  then i had a programmer come out to program the newer TCM but it failed to upload.  this might mean its a no go but it also might be because the TCM is not in the proper truck to do so--meaning it might need to be in a late 2015 to 2016 truck to be programmed and may function once placed in my truck

anyone near me in Murrieta or OC that has a late 2015 or 2016, maybe even 2017 Duramax?  i have a simple test i could try, it would not harm your TCM and would pay you for the test.  it would take 10 min??

just called GM and they now have a new part number assigned because it will be built by another vendor.  they gave me an ETA of mid April and said there are 3300 on back order right now

I also am still open to buying a used one or borrowing one for a few months if your 2009-2015 truck is down for some other reason

Gm now has a new part number pending. It’s in production from an outside bender. They are targeting April. My ecu went down in July.!
