Supercross/Outdoor Motorcross

Seeing as moto racing is nowhere near as popular as it was 10-15 years ago, I'm guessing the prize money / sponsor dollars are way lower than they once were.   I'm curious if anyone can chime in on what the payouts are.  I did a quick check and couldn't find anything  . . .

Supercross is where the money's at. They say Outdoors doesn't pay near the money Indoors does. That's why we've seen in these past few years people taking Supercross deals only. Reed / Stewart just to name a few. Majority of the racers would prefer to race SX only but the Factory Deal along with Sponsor deals makes them run the Outdoors too. And for some of us......Outdoors is so much more exhilarating. You get to open up your bike and feel the power! Peace

Payouts and money seem to be kept private for the most part, which is weird in professional sports these days. I can find a breakdown of any NBA, MLB and NFL player's contract in 45 seconds. That being said, they make money and the higher you finish, the more money you make. This could include sponsor money as well. From listening to Pulp MX's podcast, it looks like the top factory guys are getting 6 figures for a win. That'd be enough for me to give a crap.

Like Cheff said, the money and fame is in supercross and the conditions are usually a lot better. These guys would rather take shorter length, shorter time and better groomed tracks in winter and spring over 30 minute motos in 100 degree heat any day. But their deals require them to do so.

One of the mechanics told me if they get on the podium they're Bonused heavily by their sponsors. No wonder why they preach their sponsors so damn much! Peace
