I know the last GD.com had a thread on this. We are getting ready to start looking to build the BBQ island and was looking to see who everyone else used. We’re you happy with them? What do you like, or what you don’t. What you have but don’t use, like the fridge or side burners. What brand of grill did you buy? Bull, Lion or? I might like to see if a Blackstone griddle could be built in along with a grill.

My sister & Brother in law had Tropic Touch BBQ islands build theirs and they seem happy with it. But I know there are others out there.

So who did you use to build yours? Looking for the San Diego area.

We are finishing up the house remodel and the backyard is next. I'll be following this.

Following, I have crappy luck hiring companies!

Also following!  A big outdoor kitcken/BBQ/"bar" island is in our future for sure!

So no one besides Dbart has put in a outdoor BBQ Island?

I want one with a built in pellet smoker and a Benihana style flat top. I’m in the plotting stages right now. I had islands in the sun build my last one. Great quality. I had side burners but only used them once or twice. I did get the biggest grill I could find so that I had plenty of space. Mine was plumbed in to the natural gas line so it was easy to fire up and use daily. I would bbq all my meat and veggies for dinner on that thing. New house has a spot for one so I’m hoping some others chime in with some ideas.

I also had Pete with Islands in the Sun build one for my last house. Also plumbed into natural gas.

Liked the whole set up. Have not yet built a built in at the new house.

Here are a couple from the old house....

Just finishing ours up… Had a buddy design and fabricate galvanized steel studs that we built the frame with. Then I sub’d out the Granite, tile and plumbing. Another friend of mine helped me out with the electrical. I’ll post a few more once it’s 100%

Wow, looking forward to seeing the fully completed pics.

So, this isn't at our house, but on our RV lot (soon to be for sale 😉

I probably have some more pics.  There are bar stools on the opposite side behind the fire bowl (which was actually a big built-in wok when this was originally built), sink, etc. There's actually also a hot tub back there.  Overall, we love it, and it's super useful.  About the only thing it is really missing is a) a bigger TV (you can just see it behind the pillar in the 2nd pit, to the right of the fireplace) and it needs an ice maker (how can an outdoor kitchen, aka party area not have an ice maker!?!).  We'll prob replace the oven with an ice maker along with a few other tweaks before we list.

PS- shameless plug if you want an AMAZING lot at the nicest luxury RV resort in the US (located in Indio, CA) hit me up.  This one was done before rules changed, so the walls are higher than allowed now for more privacy and more secure for your pets (this park also has beautiful water-front lots, but no fencing is allowed, we wanted a convenient place for our dogs to be off-leash).

I guess there is currently no one in Havasu doing these.  I'm going to end up building it myself.  YAY!  I get to learn how to stucco...FML.

So much easier to hire it out Mac. While you're out practicing how to drive your boat. Peace

FYI - I also have the best prices on grills and components - by themselves

My cell is 951-316-8793

Thanks!
Pete, I have my grill, side burner, sink, doors, drawers and most of all the island must have a place for my Big Green Egg.

That's something we can design? Work around what I already have?

The boat definitely gets used and we don't want anything to get in the way of that!
