Not sure what other SxS cost but our Pro R was less than $500 for the year with the following:My opinion would be buy another pro-r. You know the machine and it’s a solid car. Another plus is that it’s not considered a ROV to the insurance world it’s an “sand car”/OHV and in my findings it’s less to insure.
They are running some weird discount but then still have a market adjustment and BS fee. Maybe you can still haggle them down but this was on the listing online:Just seen this on IG
typical dealership bs advertising and feesThey are running some weird discount but then still have a market adjustment and BS fee. Maybe you can still haggle them down but this was on the listing online:
MSRP $40,999.00 + FEES
$2,000.00 REBATE
$9,000.00 FBC Discount
Sale Price: $29,999.00
Destination/Freight Surcharge: +$2,195.00
Added Markup: +$2,520.00
Total: $34,714.00 + TAX, LICENSE, AND DOCUMENTATION
I paid $36,000 (2dr Ultimate) out the door here in Yuma a week or two ago. Once I got over the shock of a SxS costing this much (I still think of the Rhino when I see SxS), what you get for the money is pretty damn amazing. Think rips right off the dealer floor.2024 Pro R Models will drop more, most I have seen was about $8k off MSRP on the models with Dynamax this past week.
Polaris always has allot of inventory....just wait a little and the folks who MUST have heated/cooled seating and BNG Start chomping for the 2025.
I'm watching
My decision years ago came down to enjoying the experience 'side by side' rather than alone or one-up. Comfort was a close second and effortlessness third. They Say with age come a cage, so I've been Considering a SxS.
I said the same and lusted after everything 'but' (see the first Honda Rincon) before they pretty much perfected the drive and I started realizing that I don't purposefully abuse belts. Never had one fail.It Definitely will Not be a rubber band car, not matter what!!!
I'll have to agree that buying a $50K heavy machine the size of a bus to (somewhat) overcome your point seems a little odd. Now if we're talking true sand cars at 2X to 3X the cost (or less); different story. It would be a dirt only vehicle that I would probably never take in the sand. The power to weight ratio doesn't work for the sand, for me.
If you're blessed to afford the first; you might as well go big(ger). With the costs of a new paddle shifter SxS, I'd buy a real sand car for the sand.
I lusted after the Talon then couldn't get over the negative reviews initially. Maybe they've fixed a whole lot and changed things for the better. "Price-wise" I'm going to be taking a hard look at what comes out in '25 through '27 (minimum) as I believe that the entire industry is about to change big time in this regard. For the dirt, the Talon is the only thing that makes sense, price wise, for me.

I had made up my mind to buy another buggy upon returning to the area but we ran across so many SxS's out cruising around on our trip across the country that I really took a deeper look at them. The versatility they offer is hard to beat; you can just take the things damn near anywhere. $30-40k+ was a tough pill to swallow until I drove one and discovered what you get for the money is pretty damn impressive. The Dynamix suspension has blown me away and the power stock is pretty good (I'd like about 50 more HP at this weight but it is still putting a smile on my face). The sand will certainly sap some of that but I went conservative with the tires (33" SS360s to stay as close to stock as possible) to mitigate some of that. I didn't think Polaris was going to check all the boxes for me but it was what came out on top across the board for me.They Say with age come a cage, so I've been Considering a SxS.
