Introduce Yourself..

GLAMIS WEATHER
I'm Ziggy. I'm not short but I am short on follicles on the noggin'.

I'm a former new car dealer & gearhead in general. Closed my last dealership(s) in early 2012, thank you GM bankruptcy 🙄🙄. First time to G was in the early to mid-70s, using my 125 enduro and borrowing an atc90 for a quick jaunt. Instant Addiction to the sand!. Growing up I rode dirtbikes all over the vast sage(and tomato field) covered hills of Carlsbad area. Before experiencing glamis, I was more of a MXer, lived and raced at Carlsbad raceway often. I think it was early 2000s that I originally joined gd.com, mostly as a resource & not a social network. The whole social media stuff kinda wigged me out early on😂
In the early days Gecko rd was known as 7mile rd, people camped on the shoulder of Hwy78 & magnesium fires lit the night skies. Sand drags were behind the store as was the air hose. There was no access ramp from the 78 to Vender row/camping, you had to backtrack through the whoops from the store with your rigs/loads. We were very regular visitors for 20-25 years before other hobbies consumed us. Never did we quit offroading, just changed routines as our kids grew & found their own recreational passions.
Anyhow, just wanted to let you know I'm not an obnoxious young punk, I'm an older one.😄
See y'all around here every now & then.
Cheers🍻

Jimi longtime member although the title says otherwise. My EPO podiums tell the real story! Ha ha ha!

Glamis is life. Lucky enough to have a wife that is just as fanatic as I am. We are completely off of the two wheel bikes and both and Sand cars now. Meet tons of my Glamis family right here on this website. This community is special thank you Grease Monkey for putting it back in the hands of the people.

Let’s go!IMG_8757.jpeg

My name is Jerry Dixon.

I'm a old fart, and have had at least 2 jobs in the last 80+ years.

I started out wrenching, and like a lot of guys, skipped around a bit.

I worked for the City, working in the garage, but they thought I was smart, so they gave me a radio car and a badge.

I didn't like the fraud there so I moved to Colorado for a bit.

While I was there, they killed JFK.

So I figured I should return to California before the Russians invaded.

A short time later, I hired on with a movie company. (They needed a mechanical type on location shoots)

Work3ed there for a few years, and the owner sold the company.

Traveled all over the US doing portraits, returned to California after a bit.

After a short time with another "Fleet" company, I hired on with L.A. County, repairing Cats and such.

The County figured I was smart, so I built a Crap load of gas turbines, steam turbines and a refuse to energy facility.

Twenty years later, I retired.

I was driving the wife crazy, so I got another job.

I hired on as a computer network instructor at a college.

They thought I was smart, so 3 months later, I was a Program Director for Programming and Networking..

Again I retired, and still, I was driving the wife crazy.

So I got another job, in another college, training first responders on the hazards of alternative fuels in a traffic collision.

Couple of years later, I retired from that job.

I hear Walmart is hiring greeters..
Did I do all that? Yup, sure did.

Hi everyone! I am Bobby Payne. It all started with me trying to get stationed here in 2014. My brother told me this was the place to be if I liked Dunes. It all worked out pretty good for me. I showed up here and made some damn good friends right from the start walking in with just a tent and two quads pulled by my 4runner. I have to say I caught the bug. I have spent many years since always trying to get out here every chance I could get. I was stationed in Colorado for a few years after but found my way back. I now live in San Diego with my wife Rebecca. I am sporting a 92 Banshee and X3 now days.

Many of you probably know that I started up Glamis Coffee last year. If you haven't heard of it please check us out at glamiscoffee.com. Now that I am retiring from the Navy this year I am pursuing a new career in Real Estate. So if any of you need a realtor please reach out. I understand the value of a big lot and parking space...lol.

I know there is a lot of good people on this forum and enjoy meeting everyone I have encountered so far. I'll see you all in the Dunes! October is Coming!🤙

My name is Kat, aka kat_nda_sand. Oh gosh.... I was a member waaay back when. Me and jumpnbean used to rule the scrolling thing that used to run at the top of the page.

Been going to Glamis since I was 2 years old ('78), driving my dad's buggy since I was 10 ('86). I've own a 4 seater rail and a 2 seater, both vw engines. I've now moved on to my beloved "SANCHO" kawasaki side by side. I live in AZ near the Colorado River and get out to Glamis as often as possible cause it's only a couple of hours away. This past season I was only able to make a couple of trips as my husband, best friend, riding partner unexpectedly passed away. But I still made it out with my adult kids the week before t-day and Christmas.

You just never know what life is going to bring you but I certainly hope it brings me many more trips, adventures and memories in mother G!

Welcome back…. Sorry for the sudden passing of your husband. Good for you for still going and making more memories.

I’m not sure how many other ladies are still active here.

Speak up ladies!!!!
