Generators

If you want a legit generator for life.. I got a military 10kw water cooled diesel.. I bought it for 5,000.00 and then we painted it white and serviced it. Put a 100 gallon diesel tank either underground or somewhere near it (you can also pull off drums if you want) and you will get 200 hrs of run time. It also has a built in six or seven gallon tank.

I have a hospital quiet muffler I can sell with it (currently attached) I paid 450.00 to have it made.

The project I bought it for it is way oversized so I’m looking to downsize to a smaller water cooled diesel generator around 4-5kw.

This thing will run forever.. just change the oil periodically. You can power your house and a couple neighbors too.

Thats BAD!!! Peace

Maybe a road trip to Yuma Costco? Only place I buy generators now unless Honda. Problem? Just take it back and exchange it. No questions.

CO2 sensor bypass is easy on almost all generators.

We don't have a Costco here.

I'd second the military gene if you have the space. Cheap, reliable power if you have a place for it. They are loud as fuck though.

With that said, Predator generators and pretty damn solid and great for the price. I prefer Champion but you can't go wrong with either for the money.

Had one of those for quite a while (not a lot of hours even though it was at least 10 years old). Loud as fuck but it always started right up and worked.
I i have a briggs and stratton motor in an early 90s montgomery wards yard tractor that just wont effing die. Cant go wrong with briggs and stratton

They exchanged it for the electric start 10k watt generator at no cost. For me that works. The 2030 law proposals may be my final eff you for cali. If the diesel registration ban goes through im gone. Will be joining you in yuma 🤣 im gonna semi retire and become a snowbird

Snowbird life is pretty damn good lol

We've Been running the house on the Powerhorse 7500 inverter. Critical to drain the carb gas when not in use for more than two weeks. Made in the same China factory as Harbor freight and larger Honda generators. Note the NEMA 14 50 plug that is essential to run the house IMHO:

BTW some speaking of smaller generators:
We have 3 HF 3500 Inverters. I've had 7. One is in the bed of the truck, two = 7000 watts I use if I have to run more than one AC on the Toy Hauler.
4 returned under warranty. Damaged in shipment, couldn't get them to start bad magneto, or puked within the warranty period.

Ya want inverter. It has a clean sine wave for your sensitive electronics like Starlink and circuit boards.

Changing the oil on the early ones it looked like grey metalflake paint after the first 8 hours run time. Says a lot how long that piston and cylinder is going to last.
8 hour first oil change:

Newer HF 3500 Predators not nearly as bad hardly any. Man-O-man are they quiet.

On sale last week they were $599. The Honda 3000i is $2559 at Berts. HF is super quiet, affordable and a really good buy. That's a big drink of water difference in price.

The HF extended Warranty used to be $35. Last I bought one asking price was $160, not worth it.
People pay the warranty then keep returning them just before the warranty expires but have to pay the warranty fee again.

They are making them better. It's damaged in shipment that we experience now.

I have a Honda 3000 I and it struggles running the TH's AC. the HFs Predator 3500 run the TH no sweat.

The Harbor Freight 3500 inverter needs the oil changed every 100 hours and the spark arrestor cleaned too.
Change the spark plug every 500 hours.
If carboned, then go down one heat and one heat only.

Learn to clean the carb jet, it's easy but essential ya know how. I'll do a YouTube next time I have to.

Ran all last night in 21F on the same Jean dry lake spot that 2 months ago was 119F with no issues.

BTW: Harbor Freight is about to release a 11.5 KW inverter with a NEMA 14 50 plug.

PREDATOR 11500W Tri Fuel Super Quiet Inverter Generator

The 11500W Tri Fuel Generator operates on gasoline, propane, or natural gas.

It has an ultra-powerful 459cc engine to provide plenty of backup power for jobsites, events, and more.

For added convenience, the 11500W Generator has a remote start and stop with a key fob that works from up to 100 feet away.

A push button electric start powers the generator on and off, no choke required.

Using pure sine wave inverter technology, the Generator powers sensitive electronics including smartphones, TVs, and tablets.

For easy portability and mobility over rough terrain, the PREDATOR 11500 Inverter Generator has a foldable handle and durable flat-free wheels. For added convenience, the 11500W Generator has a tool-free access panel for easy maintenance.

Electronic speed control mode (ESC) reduces noise, improves runtime, and extends engine life, and an integrated fuel gauge makes it easy to monitor fuel levels during use.

Equipped with CO SECURE™ Technology, the Generator automatically shuts down if harmful levels of carbon monoxide are detected.

Was at home depot today returning that genny. They have about 60 of these for 299$ bought one as a backupView attachment 132178

I hope this gen works out for you. Sadly, B&S, like many other names known for quality, just aren't what they used to be. B&S was bought in 2020 by a PE firm and this usually does not mean good things for the consumer.

Hell even the new honda retail motors suck....it's all about the Buck with all of them.
