Gas Shortage in San Diego

Filled up this morning Premium $4.29. Ridiculous. Peace

Neighbor/buddy who bought my 2014 RZR and drives everday for work (pluming business).. said gas is now $6.00 here in O.C. I work from home and unless I take a trip, I can go a month or 2 without getting gas.. so last I saw was $5.43 for 87 locally... maybe 2-3 weeks ago..

... If we don't start producing our own energy domestically (which we have more than ANYONE.. I'm told).. prepare for $8-$10 gas here in CA, like they have in Europe... it's coming (to a station near you)!

It's such a simple solution.. any Republican running for office should say, 'Hey, we get it.. Global Warming (B.S.) .. but hey, we need to put that off, and turn back the US energy spickit (sp)  .. for now.. and they'd win because most Democrats are either...

1. Liberal out of touch billionaires. .001%

2. Middle class 75%

3. Poverty class 20%

Estimates I pulled from my arse...

Those folks at the low end income spectrum spend the majority of their income on food and energy .. even if they care about social justice, green energy, etc. They will STARVE if they can't get food/energy at reasonable prices.

2022/2024.. I think the Democrats get destroyed at the polls.

PS. I loved when Biden said at his speech the other day, 'Fund the police' and everyone.. even Kamala stood up and clapped.. uh what?.. Billions in property damage, .. hundreds of deaths for your B.S. riots.. I mean protests.. yeah.. the jumped the shark with that deal.

Jen Saki says we've got nine drilling permits here in the UDA, but the corporations don't want to drill. Who to believe? Peace

I don't see any stations running out of gas so these prices are all based on speculation, fear and bullshet, no?

Need more than that, we need to be fracking again, we need to explore and open up more wells as well.  Right now this administration has told the oil industry to not explore and open up anything new..............thus those departments are gone.  Here in Ca the city of LA has stop adding anything of new, tons of oil right here near the refineries.

She actually said 9,000 today, which the administration has been pushing for a week and as far as I can tell is true . . .

Who in Needles can even afford that?
The same people that were paying $5.00 a gallon 3 years ago at that same station.  LOL!

I wonder how many people will not be boating this summer if the gas prices keep going up.

There was a fairly recent article that said under the current administration there were more gas and oil leases approved than under Trump.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2022/01/27/oil-gas-leasing-biden-climate/

Current leases are halted due to a court decision

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/24/biden-administration-pausing-new-oil-and-gas-leases-amid-legal-battle-.html

The oil companies are taking advantage of a perceived oil shortage to maximize profits.

On public lands........

My old neighbor told me he bought all of his gas at Chevron (or whichever one it was) and when I asked him why he didn't buy his gas at Costco, since he was there buying groceries at least once a week. He suddenly got really honest with me.

He said they were living off of their credit cards. Both of them claimed to be making great money, but their expenses were basically a month ahead of their combined incomes. They put all of their Costco purchases on the Costco Visa card which gave them 30 days to scrape up the CC payment and they used the Chevron card for their gas purchases even though the Costco gas was a lot cheaper and the Costco Visa gave them 4% cash back on the gas purchases.

He said he knew all of that, but they didn't have enough credit limit on the Visa to put their gas purchases on it on top of their food purchases, and they never got caught up on the gas purchases plus interest on the Chevron balance due. Sad to see both parents working and barely scraping by and they had no hobbies other than driving the 3 girls to soccer, dance class, etc. They were in a vicious cycle of trying to catch up on their CC debt.

The husband couldn't even imagine a world where he could buy an RV, buy an off road toy and go to the desert. His guilty pleasure was sneaking a beer or 2 in the garage with me. His wife disliked me, even though I never got around to telling her I wouldn't touch her with someone else's 10 ft pole.

I viewed his life as the ultimate sacrifice. He spent all of it working hard to keep her and the 3 kids solvent and he got nothing in return but his wife's ever increasing demands.

I've been there (sorta). 2008. Was making more than I ever had before. Then obama got elected and literally overnight it came to a screeching halt. Got laid off. Found another job but for less than half the money. Pusher got repoed. Struggled until company I was working for closed it's doors in 2010. 4 kids and a stay at home wife. I then decided to give up everything I didn't need. Quit paying everything but my mortgage and the light bill. Ran up any credit cards I had left and quit paying those shortly after. They sent me to collections and everything but nothing ever came of any of it. I haven't been on anyone's payroll since 2010. The remaining 6 years of abama were tough being self employed but just like in 2008, in 2016, literally overnight I suddenly needed 3 of me to keep up with the workload. Now I pay cash for everything. If I can't afford to pay cash for it then I don't need it.  Last year bought another pusher cash that's twice the motorhome as the one that got repoed. Had a bunch of quads and 3 wheelers and paid cash for my first SxS two years ago and bought an LS powered 4Runner last year and a new to me race trailer to put it all in. My only regret is that I didn't do it all a long time ago.

That's awesome!

My mom had the same philosophy at first. She was super tight with money, cash only, single mom. She eventually invested enough that she lived off of dividends and couldn't spend all of her money fast enough.

I wish I'd taken more of her advice when I was younger.

I stand corrected.....9,000. And we're NOT taking action? Who's paying who? Peace

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/energy-industry-psaki-oil-and-gas-leases-ceraweek

Been reading about this and the story I linked above does explain some of what is going on in our energy sector.

From what I read, these leases are auctioned in blocks, and a very small amount of these leases will be commercially viable.

What is not being talked about much is the fact that the Brandon admin is pressuring the banks and private equity firms not to do business with the oil industry to stifle further production with success. Also, Brandon's admin has placed more regulation on refiners and some of the small and mid size refiners are struggling to operate under the added regulations and some have closed, which is their goal.

But I also have no doubt the oil industry isn't completely innocent, I wouldn't be surprised if their greed isn't a factor in what is going on.

And none of this is truly about the environment, there are more sinister goals at work here.
