Engine choice for a future Hot Rod build

Meh.... The Nash metropolitan is too big in beefy. How about a crosley with a V8 in it. :siren:  this guy also owns the Nash metropolitan that I sat in last weekend. Guess he likes little cars.

Outdated. Lol. So what have you built?
If I were to build a car for cruising on a Saturday afternoon, it'd be a t bucket, big block and littlefield, all chrome and a candy red steel body. However what I desire is 120k+ and that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

We all know you like to do things just a little outside of the box, so why not continue.

Use that same motor you have in your Sandrail ?

Or if you can't have two engines of the same flavor in the fleet

I like the rotary idea but that is a short-term plan.

What about the 6-cylinder Subie ? Wife could drive it nice and easy, and you could flip a switch and that thing up and then it would be fun to slide around on the roads

Old school buick 215 aluminum v8. Small, light weight, and different.

Had the Buick 215 in my sandrail, was cool and unique.

Using a Land Rover 4.0 block/heads and going bored out to 5 liters, would have been something if it would have blown up.

once i ran across this vijeyho i started thinking this would be cool to put in a sand car, or a fun street car, hot rod etc.

Cool

VQ35DE is a great engine but for the weight I would do an LS instead. Really wouldn't save much. I will say my wifes 370z sounds pretty decent for a stock v6. Love driving her car. 332 HP and the car weighs a beefy 4112 lbs.  (Convertible) The k24 has my interest peaked. It would also sound very different with the right turbo exhaust. Not sure mama would go for no muffler.  :classic_tongue:  Quick search and this 4l60 adapter pops up.  Even 350-375 HP would be fun with a 4 speed auto and a low gear. As far as the Subie I am thinking to wide? Not an engine I am familiar with.

That 4 cyl is super cool.

That is pretty cool. We are so busy in the shop and staying up with engine builds we are installing a couple of their engines right now in projects.

I had just heard about it today at work and immediately thought of your thread. I'm not sure how it will sound. 4 cylinders don't sound good to me unless in a bike or tuned to within an inch of their life. It's definitely unique though.

Been listening to a bunch of k24 audio clips and I just don't care for the four cylinder sound. I think I'm a die-hard V8 guy.

I was just thinking, if you go anything other than a V8, probably need to go Turbo just due to how they sound.......... :classic_biggrin:
