1962 Corvette Resto Mod build

Water pump restricter???  LOL.

Im guessing it was being used to plug up some access hole or hole used for Mfg that was capped off.
Spent weeks of work doing fiberglass to smooth out the firewall and get rid of all of the hood latches. One of the only holes we left was the hole for the emergency brake handle and cable going through. Then after paint decided to do the electric emergency brake kit. So there was a hole left in the firewall. I silicone it in place.

Not sure if I had posted this before. Pattern from a stock seat versus what Al knoch sent us. Probably inch and a half difference. No lumbar whatsoever in their seats. We will change that.

All new rubber and pieces for the convertible top. Upholstery guy will put this all together. The front rubber that goes along the windshield is taped on right now. Normally drilled and held on with screws. I will let him figure this out. Above my pay grade.

All new hardware for the entire interior. Been debating for a while what to do with the plate for the shifter boot. For now just threw some paint on it and we will see how it looks. This thing is finally finally ready for upholstery. Two weeks in Ireland and then when we get back I'm sending it over to him. Getting excited about a finished car at some point. But are they ever finished? LOL. I do need to get some seat belts ordered as well.

Wow, Three months to the day I have posted in this thread. Slow going with the upholstery but looks like we are going to pick up some steam now. Told him I would really like to have a completed project by end of September. Tunnel is getting leather instead of carpet. Give it a little different look. Handmade fiberglass piece for a smoother transition around the shifter area.

Nick sent me these pics last week. He has made more progress and I think we will get more pics tomorrow.

This piece gets wrapped in leather. Then the tunnel gets carpet.

Phone screen shots so not great quality. But you get the gist. Not looking to shabby.  :poule:  Talked about making something to cover the hinges in the trunk area but I am just going to leave them exposed. It will still be very nice back there. Tool tray area in the front of the trunk will be left open with some black material inside. Then the tools will be in roll up tool bags.

I decided for now not to do a cover for the battery. Sometimes I think they can look worse with versus without. I have always liked the mechanical look of things anyway.

Damn that looks clean.  My cheap lazy azz would have bought an Al Knoch kit and called it a day.  Next level for sure.

The dash, seats, and steering wheel cover all came from Al Knock. But the seats were so uncomfortable I am having Nick tear them apart and change the foam. Did a test fit last week and have it a lot better. That along with moving the steering wheel in I don't think I can get it much better. Still a tight fit for my long legs. At least I will be able to drive it.

Words do no justice to the level of attention to detail, and craftsmanship going into this build.. Thank you for taking the time to share all the steps along the way. I have been enjoying watching this masterpiece coming together. Hopefully you are teaching your craft to a younger person to pass on your skill. It takes a special level of dedication to your craft, to tear a finished product apart and redo it because it wasn’t perfect .. I can appreciate that!

Car should be ready to pick up early to middle of next week. They are just finishing up. They had mega hours in this upholstery job. Pretty much just like the rest of this car.

Well since losing my dad I have had to get my head right to work on this car again. Started ripping it apart to put the cam lock out in the motor. Then it can go on the dyno. Had to Jack the motor up to get the pan out. P i t a. Start getting it ready for Good guys in november.

Comp cams cam limiter kit is nice. The little block that goes inside has a set screw which is a pipe plug and swedges it out to lock it in. Some pretty crazy engineering in these late model direct injected motors. That front camp bolt has a spring loaded plunger that lets the oil flow to vary the timing. You have to replace it every time and torque it to 48 ft lb then 90°. I would say at least 200 ft pounds. We were able to hold the front of the crank with a special hub we have. But torquing the harmonic balancer bolt is going to be fun. I will probably have to make a fixture somehow to hold the flywheel and lock it in place. We have this fixture but I don't think it is going to work.
