What was your 2023/2024 Dune season?

0 trips this year.

Work has been crazy not only for me but the group I go with.

Oh well...

:dbart:

My season went pretty well. About 22 days in the dunes thanks to StarLink. Wanted more but decided to remodel the Funco this summer, with fabrication time frames and trying to do as much on my own as possible, I didn't want to be doing final assembly in October. So, the season was cut short in January and the remodel began early.

I did notice this year that it just seemed packed all the time. We had people squeeze into camp spots that were passage roads between us and the dunes, or passages between two camps... The dunes seemed to be choppier and just rougher than in years past (not that it hasn't been getting progressively worse).

I am hoping for 40-45 days for the 24-25 season.

54 days in and hoping for a few more, dune car was flawless, sold the big car. Done with the drags will stick with 700 hp or less and dune way more than sit at the drags and watch side x sides. Never made it to Glamis or Buttercup stuck with Gordons, never made it to Duners Diner even though we live about 100 feet away.  Overall great season!!!

26 Days with 5 trips, Starting Vet's and ending Easter.

The weather was great but the dunes didn't really come around until the end of the season.

Car ran great with no issues.

I got a new to me Dp motorhome which made the trips much nicer.

See you all next season!

We had a great season, spent a lot of time in the dunes and alternated from Glamis to Ocotillo Wells depending on timing. Season isn't over yet; I think we can squeeze a few more trips in before it's too hot.

Had a lot of seat time on the buggies, and probably even more on the quads riding with the kids.

Made it out 5, 5 day trips this season. Too much fun on the off weeks !. Finally getting comfortable with the sxs car. Trying to decide who to do the shock valving and spring thing on my Canam. SDG or Down south, any thoughts ?.

I retired for the last time last April.  Since moving to CO, I really haven't been able to get to the dunes much.  My BIL lives in the LA area and has been returning to the dune for the past few years.

I had a decision to make on Halloween, dunes, or hunt.  I went to the dunes and had a great time.  And, the hunting worked itself out the next week.

Then, Thanksgiving, New Years, President's Day all solo, from my area.  Then, mid-March a family get together and it blew like crazy.  I took 2 of the daughter's BFs out, and for once a trip to the hospital was not involved (now 2 for 4 on that).  The wind....the dunes were like the beach when the tide goes out smooooooth.

5 trips....excellent.

Veterans Trip our MOHO decided (Midland, TX) after 200k + miles and 23 years later.........."I'm Done". Drive Train U-Bolts broke. Limped her back to the house and was in a predicament. Our favorite week of the year and NO Moho to travel with. Decided to load the fridge food into huge coolers, throw in blankets pillows and whatever else we thought we'd need. Hook the trailer up to the F-350 King Ranch and head out. Blew down the Hwy..........pulled over at a rest stop. Slept in the front seats of the truck for 3 hrs. Back on the road. Called "Camp-N-Style" and had a trailer waiting for us when we got there. Never take for granted your bed! Da chEFF didn't shower for 7 days. Luckily our wonderful group allowed the Wife to shower in their rigs while Da chEFF had to wait outside. For some reason as the days went on, I wasn't allowed to enter peoples rigs. Nor sit on their furniture. Something about "Body Odor". The trip home was awesome. Two (2) Hotel Rooms later and we were clean / refreshed and in the market for a new Moho. Found the Dream Coach in December and went Christmas / New Years with the best of friends. Trip went awesome. Came back out the week after Presidents weekend. First time sitting on wash road Monday Presidents Day watching everyone leave. Our camp was empty when we arrived. So Cool. Had an awesome week with incredible people. Excellent Pot Luck Parties every night. Food was incredible. Friendships grew. Dunes were wonderful and the best thing of all..................after 5-7 years off Da chEFF got back on a quad. Every morning while people were sleeping Da chEFF went railing some bowls. Nothing like the feel of handlebars / clutch and the girth between my legs once again. Hoping @sndsamplr will join me again. Temporary retirement from quad riding is now over. An awesome / entertaining and eventful season for Da chEFF family and friends. Our new to us Moho (The Beast) SXS (Thunder) and Quad (Kashmir) are a welcomed addition in our Dream Home! Can't wait to see y'all once again. Peace

When does the 2024/25 season start....asking for a friend.

This weekend may or may not be the last trip?  I always seem to squeeze in a May trip, but it is highly weather dependent.
