The GM52 Funco Hustler clone conversion

Quick update.

Spent quite some time, noting and making rear shocks adjustments, swapping rear shocks left to right and turned to get better tube spacing from the tires.

Car kept bottoming out in the rear.

@Squatcher and @Mac both suggested nitrogen, but I had asked for them to be filled before I picked up the car.

Assumed soo and welp they either gassed out or were not charged.

Both of them had the bottle and gauge kit.

So I connected to the shocks and they were not charged.  Set them at 150 and what a fricken difference.

So now I'm ready to set the sand on fire.

Leave for a morning run today

Get into a great 40 min run. We take a break.

Jump back in and within a min something ain't right. I take a hard stop to avoid a witches eye and the stops abruptly. Try and move and it's like it's glued to the earth.

Got out. Did some checks and assumed the back brakes locked up.  We cracked the rear brake lines and no help. Check the trans and in neutral.  Tried backing up and nope.

So now I'm assuming trans or mid boards oddly a CV.

Squatcher left and went back to camp for his air jack.

I checked the hubs and found the pass rear midboard hot compared to the driver's side.

So not much we can do.

Paul gets back. We lift the rear of the car and start it. Put it in gear and get the hub broke loose.

Limp back to camp and now enjoying some cold bevs with friends

Thanks for that great update ... We have all been there ...As much as I hate shakedown Gremlins

We do get by with a little help from our friends ... Here's tipping one back to @Mac and @Squatcher

GM didn't you Dyno the car recently? surprised under that load tied down you did not see the issue , just goes to show Feces Occurs

Super stoked on having my buddies here.

Follow up to my suspicions.

Jacked the car up. Spun the wheels at camp. Huns feel good. A bad bearing would be a bad bearing. So now what.

Went back thru the moment before I stopped.  I remember banging gears from 3-2-1 without lifting the clutch. I figured get down to 1st gear and throttle out. Well we're thinking the trans was in a couple of gears and wouldn't reset until we jacked the car up and unloaded the tires.

Spent some time driving across pad 4 and everything seems fine........

This car is absolutely stoooopid.

Looks amazing, drives so smooth and the power is ridiculous.   GM's best car to date.  Such an amazing concept of a hustler turned into a mini G52.  It's perfect.

Been a longer road then planned.  But I will be picking up the car from Outfront today.   John's going to weigh the car for me as well which is always nice to know.   This 3.6/3.2L engine is making 711hp on my high boost setting.  My turbo is rated for 650hp and its putting out about all it can.   Plans to run the car for this season and there's a good chance I will just leave it as is.  I have 4 boost settings to play with from 450-711ish hp on E85.

Going to a bigger turbo has a down side and thats low end power.  I want the power now and honestly chasing more HP in this little car makes no sense.  Not that I didn't think about smaller twins, but I've got a season I'm looking forward too and hope to see y'all out there.

Shake down might happen in two weeks.  Fingers crossed I get all my other chit done.

Thanks for following along. Ill get some photos up in the next few days.

There's always Anti-Lag...

Sound of freedom.

Really interesting to see, and it makes me feel better about what my car came in at.  Awesome build, and glad you finally got it in the sand... now it's my turn. ;)
