So. Is everyone ok over here???

I challenged that claim on several forums, reasonably.

"Put climate change aside. Put aside the freak winds and other related conditions. I strongly believe that the result of severely poor planning and lack of resources exponentially contributed to the loss of life and property because strategic planning and resource allocation would've have mitigated loss of life and property loss, to a highly measurable and definitive extent."

Responses: "You don't know anything." "You don't get it." "Typically MAGA blaming politics."...etc., etc., etc. You get it.

This article sums it up perfectly. They’re correct on one front: none of this is natural, it’s entirely manmade.

It just has nothing to do with burning gasoline.

So everybody's phone at work just blew up and said we need to evacuate. Problem is I'm in Hawthorne and there is no fire anywhere near us . . .

So apparently this went out to most of LA County and was issued "in error". Can't make this shit up . . .

Better than not getting anything I suppose.
In East County San Diego, we get them every time there’s a fire sorta nearby. At first, we obeyed. Then we found out the hard way that we couldn’t come back for any reason until the fire was completely under control.

I don’t even recycle chones when backpacking in the wilderness. Never again. I’m not leaving until I feel the heat. :ROFLMAO:

A bit off topic, but the reference to the spotted owl highlights the power and incompetence of the government and their enviromentalist allies. They blamed logging for the diminished number of spotted owls. It almost killed the logging industry and communities that relied on logging. In recent years they discovered that barred owls were killing the spotted owls and logging had a negligible effect on the spotted owl. Now they are killing barred owls to save the spotted owls. Meanwhile, the logging industry and communities never fully recovered from this cluster fuck the enviromentalist created!

They’re also paving over square miles of desert tortoise habitat for giant solar farms near Vegas.

The tortoises are going to be released back in the same panel-infested wasteland after they’re done and expected to just deal with it.

Off-roaders driving on established trails in the desert where desert tortoises might be? Evil.

Tens of thousands of acres of desert tortoise habitat paved flat and panels installed? Green.

Exactly. I’m not abandoning my house because my phone tells me to.

The Canadians lease then during the fire season to the county. Come with the pilots and mechanics to fix them. A lot cheaper to lease them out for the 3-4 months they are needed. They have been here since August.

Maybe this administration will take on revamping the Environmental Protection Act and this silliness will stop.

With the money that is wasted in this STATE, there is ZERO reason we don't have a fleet of 10-12 of those....there is a private company in Montana that has at least 6 of them. Cheaper doesn't matter when thousands of homes are burning down. WE pay 250k for batallion cheif suburbans....money is not the point here. Protecting the people is.

Problem there is they’ll use them…

And even more kindling will pile up for the next windstorm and burn even hotter. Fire is a natural part of the ecosystem.

Agree, but Proper Forest wildland management is KEY..........but part of the solution.
Yep, and those airplanes need to be justified annually, not every 3-5 years when La Nina follows 2+ years of El Nino. They'll use them to put out every fire that pops up. Half acre bum fire just after 2 weeks of rain near a river? Yep. Tankers and helicopters. I literally saw this happen down here.

The state has a fleet of air tankers and helicopters and the super scoopers are in addition to the fleet the state owns. The super scooper is not the only air water dropping plane used to fight the fires.
