So. Is everyone ok over here???

It's possible, this could be the event that turns folks politically or at least whom they support and vote for.
The aftermath of this event is going to be a complete shit show consisting of finger pointing and CYA when having to account for the lack of fire mitigation efforts, water shortages and lack of sufficient water pressure, taking funds away from fire departments, evacuation planning, etc. This has shown the complete incompetence of those in charge.

There was already issues with the cost and ability to obtain homeowners insurance in CA prior to this. Imagine how this event will affect insurance coverage moving forward. I heard a report that there are concerns that some of the insurance companies might not be able to fully cover the policies they issued due to the amount of damage.

the West side of PCH from the Palisades to Malibu is gone. Gladstones and Dukes were saved. Moonshadows is gone. Kinda looks like Lahaina
The fire ripped through there quickly. I could see the smoke.

My wife's boss lost his house. He was close to Dukes.

I have a few friends who have evacuated, but they are safe. This is going to be real bad when we can finally see the property destruction. Press conference just said over 1000 structures have been destroyed and 2 are dead. Malibu was hit last night and the fire has burned all the way to PCH.

Yesterday dozens of people just abandoned their cars and walked away. They brought in a bulldozer and just moved them out of the way

There was a traffic jam and they were told by authorities to leave their cars...They were not just abandoned.
There was no way they were driving out of there.
Fire coming, do you stay in your car and go no where or GTFO...I would choose GTFO!
🍻

My cousin and his family were evacuated from Sierra Madre...they were able to go back yesterday where they found that their home was still safe.
They got some things and hosed the house down.
Not sure what the status is...I just reached out to him.

I still don't get these Multi million dollar homes with ZERO type of fire suppression around them. I mean some 2" lines with some 1" rain birds would at least knock some of the embers out. I mean if an ember lands on a wet surface wouldn't it go out? I get the full on fire storm, but come on man...do something.

The way the wind was whipping I don't think it would of made a difference.

No issues in Ramona so far however am concerned about the forecasted winds later today and especially tonight. It can get downright hairy where I'm at and if something sparks up, it won't be good.

Unreal what is happening north of here tho, holy shit :(

I established an extensive network of contacts over nearly a decade of mountain biking throughout the Santa Monicas and the San Gabriels. The images and videos I've seen via text and their social media are heart breaking. These two images don't begin to capture the immeasurable devastation and the faith in God to help them get through it.
May be an image of fire and text
May be an image of 1 person and street

Been reading that many houses have recently been falling out of escrow due to potential buyers being unable to obtain homeowner's insurance at anything approaching affordable, or can't obtain insurance at all. That was even before all this occurred. So, as a seller, it may soon come to pass that your pool of buyers will only be all cash purchasers, since no Lender is going to make a mortgage on an uninsurable home. Seems like that will have a big downward effect on home prices in general. That will make it harder for folks to get out of this hellhole state, since much of your home equity may be gone.

We are all going to be paying for these completely shameful examples of leadership and mismanagement, whether you are one of the poor souls who's home burned or not.

It seems that more and more people are expecting the government to solve all of their problems.

Gavin has been working diligently to “Trump proof” California, a few fires could be looked at as a fair trade off for shielding illegal aliens from being turned over to ICE after serving time for other crime.
Naw. It’s all caused by climate change. Had more of us converted our evil gasoline burning vehicles to EVs, this wouldn’t have happened.

As a high voltage electrical first responder for a major electric utility . I can say this is one of the worst events of wind I’ve ever experienced in 30 years . Much different than normal Santa Ana’s with direction and changing directions of wind at varying intensity . The politics , the issues we all can probably agree on what needs to happen , should have happened in regards to availability of water , thinning vegetation controlled burns , preventative measures and available fire resources, and lack therof etc .

Some people have lost everything , life itself , loved ones , pets , their entire life’s work and investment now sits in a claim process that will be ugly as insurance companies will be panicking .

All that to say to the general public please remember folks the world doesn’t revolve around any of us and I try to think of that and smile back as I’m being yelled at and flipped off by those inconvenienced people who live in fire unaffected areas but are still still without power who are upset at the help upon arrival .

Get a Jenny

I challenged that claim on several forums, reasonably.

"Put climate change aside. Put aside the freak winds and other related conditions. I strongly believe that the result of severely poor planning and lack of resources exponentially contributed to the loss of life and property because strategic planning and resource allocation would've have mitigated loss of life and property loss, to a highly measurable and definitive extent."

Responses: "You don't know anything." "You don't get it." "Typically MAGA blaming politics."...etc., etc., etc. You get it.

Just got off the phone with my Boss, He just walked a job we finished on Friday in Pasadena. he went to take care of a couple small punch list items. This was an medical office that had just gotten it's final clean. Today it lookd worse than when it was under construction. It had not burned but the brand-new paint smell was gone and replaced by the smell of smoke, the walls looked like somebody had run a smoker inside. The light fixtures were all covered in a haze. He said all the windows and doors were shut this was just what found it's way in.

Funny thing was one of the punch list items was some fingerprints on an exit sign.

Quote from one of my zillionaire friends who posted in our closed forum:

My childhood home in pacific palisades along with the entire area has burned to the ground. My family pulled out of palisades years ago for the insane democrat policy concerning property rentals and for general incompetence from mostly liberal city / county leadership.

Now its on full display. My heart goes out to all the conservatives who lost their homes that were not fully insured and all who lost loved ones.
:(

The liberal leadership in CA is the most incompetent in the world.

The CA Firefighters are the bravest in the world fighting these fires with little by comparison.

LA county alone has recently spent on homeless an amount approaching 100 Billion (with a B). This is enough to rebuild every home that has burned in CA for the past 4 years (the entire state). Including 29 billion recently that gavin has no idea or receipts for. BILLIONS of dollars.

I would not be surprised if these round of fires comes in at close to 100 billion alone.
