Final product. There is a VERY noticeable difference in temps of objects near the exhaust where there is wrapping and not. Put your hand on the “frame” next to the wrapped exhaust, cool to the touch. Next to unwrapped exhaust, barely bearable to touch.

If you wrap anything melty with it, make sure to leave air gap. The shielding itself blocks heat from passing through, but it definitely absorbs it. Anything in direct contact with it will fry.

So you can not wrap a heater hose with it? You’re saying it will melt my hose ?

I would place it between the hose and the source, or wrap the exhaust partially. The heater hose doesn’t need to be wrapped to be protected, just blocked from direct radiated heat.

I wouldn’t want to wrap a hose with this anyway. It’s metal with raised points, so will probably abrade through eventually anyway.

Walked through Mottino Wash near Big Bear (OnX says 9/10), but this happed 3/4 of the way up. Finished the rest of the trail in 2WD.

Appears the open carrier with lunchbox is at its limit. Swapping to a Yukon Zip Locker to see if it holds up. Worst that happens is I break another R&P, fix again, and sell it all for something stronger.
 
That trail is tough, you like self inflected torture huh?
