So, above video had some carnage. The clicking sound? Yeah…
Turns out the u joint was shitting needle bearings. I inspected it directly after and didn’t see anything amiss, but yeah… It was dry and rusty inside, so I assume it hasn’t been happy for a while. Not bad for 8 years locked on 35s for a 5-760x.
45 minute fix at least.
In other news…
You fellers ever see a trail of oil and wonder “how the fuck did they last that long?” Or “how the fuck did they not know?” Or “what a fucking idiot!??!?”
So, yeah….
One of the trans cooler lines popped off the cooler (loose hose clamp I assume?). Only noticed something might be off when it started stinking like ATF in the cab, but there was a shitbox ahead of me. Either way, it was driving perfectly, and I was almost home, so drove it home.
Got home, hopped out expecting to have to look around for the oil I was smelling, if it was even me. Yeah, nope. It was definitely me. THE WHOLE FUCKING JEEP WAS COVERED FROM THE DOOR HANDLES DOWN. ATF dropping everywhere because the line connects in front of the tire, so it was just spraying and flinging everywhere.
So, yeah. I have a mess to clean up. Trans seems fine.
Looked this morning… There’s a 6’ wide trail of dust abatement starting a mile from my house. Lol
