Natural gas price spike!

Edison and the power companies charge differently on where you live, freakin bullshiat.  For example, Palm Springs Electricity rates are 60% lower per kilowatt than coastal areas.  Why???  This drives me crazy.
Because they have wind power....duh...

AND...rich, old people that vote...

i live in palm springs area and used to have Eddison. the rate is lower is because the usage is much higher, also the winter and summer rate times are different out here. the winter usage rates start in october. most times in oct we are still well over 100 deg every day. one year i was already in the highest tier pricing on the 3rd day of the month. i have not been on edison for 7 years but even back then my bills were $600-700 a month, i would hate to see what they are now. now i live in a different part and i have IID that runs off the windmills. this summer my bills doubled. before my highest bill was around $250 this summer is was up over $400. i keep the AC on my house set at 82 when im not home and the lowest i put it at is 78 when i go to bed.

Last months bill was $42...this months $124.

WTF?

And that isn't bad considering...my buddy in Orange, his for this months went to $185 and have a smaller house and no pool/spa (we only heat the spa occasionally and my outdoor BBQ is gas).

EFF!

Holy Shit, this month is always $$ but with it more then tripling, my next bill will be over $600

But that is my point, we are subsidizing the desert communities...........pay for what you use.

I live in the inland empire, Canyon Lake, we have 100 degree days all summer long, but get charge coastal rates, not desert rates.  Everyone has $500-900 electric bills in the summer when you must have the AC on to live, even though we use less kilowatts than the desert communities we pay more.

I wonder if Gas rates are different as well in different zones?

Time to replace all Exterior Doors (3) and Sliding Glass Doors (3) and replace Exterior Windows (13) with Brand New Insulated good stuff. Crappy part is windows are double sided vinyl that are only about 10 years old, but previous owner went cheap on the material and installation, so they are drafty as well.

Roof is maybe 5 years old and fine, Attic Insulation is the typical 3-4 inches, adding another 10-12 would make it R-38 and perfect.

I've thought about blown in Cellulose for the Exterior Walls because I have some big sections of Rock and Wood Siding that I know lets in drafts, rest of house is stucco.

Might just need some caulking and new seals.

Side note: aren't you supposed to have some sort of block wall with wrought iron out front?

you know it's bad when the gas bill is $50 higher than the electric bill and we have a pool pump that runs 10 hours a day...

Mine went from last year, 58 therms at $92 to 68 therms and $272.

Bought my house in August. Closed the gas valve then. Paid 5 bucks a month as a minimum fee they said. First month in the house. Heating and cooking with gas.

$205.00

Haven't looked at the therms to see what we used. But with all the news I expected the price.

131 therms and bill was $185. This is after the 30% increase in rates.

I thought this was outrageous, but after seeing what some of you are paying we have it good.

Just got my Feb bill and compared to Dec and Jan.  Mother Effers.

Dec therm cost $.63 = $51 (in Glamis most of November)

Jan therm cost $.87 = $163

Feb therm cost $2.43 = $277

$1 a therm now $3.11 a therm.

December was $200 for 112 therms

Jan is $500 for 112 therms
