Mosquito traps...

Went to Mississippi with the Ex years ago. Her Aunt's house had this catfish pond that has skeeters the size of ducks, I swear they could carry off a small kitten.  Anyway the first night we are sitting out on the porch and I am swatting these things  every three seconds.  Even with the candles all lit around me they still came after me and only me. Her aunt walks into the house grabs a bounce dryer sheet and puts it in my shirt pocket. I became invisible to them, The rest of the trip I had a dryer sheet in my shirt pocket, back pocket and front pocket.  Came home with zero bites.

How do you use Bounce dryer sheets for mosquitoes?

The reason for this? Most dryer sheets contain the ingredient linalool, which can be found in plants like lavender, basil, and coriander, all of which naturally repel common garden pests. Similar studies found that this ingredient is also useful for repelling bugs like mites, weevils, beetles, and German cockroaches.Sep 30, 2019

interesting.........

Looks like me. I’ve got the old school zapper and have had for years. I keep it in the RV and use it at the river. Tried it at the house, and it zapped everything but the little mosquitoes. Bought the Dynatrap at Costco. It’s got some bugs in it, but nothing substantial.

I think the best thing I’ve found is to just circulate the air. I’ve got a huge ceiling fan in my patio and I’ve brought out a floor sitting fan that blows air across the patio surface where they fly. They can fly is wind. Just having fans move air seems to help allot where we are sitting. That with bug spray on our legs.

I thought about buying a large industrial 4 ft drum fan and let it blow air around the backyard. Besides the cost, we’re do I store it! My wife thought I was nuts when I told her and showed it to her.
They're ankle biters, maybe the buzzlights need to be at ankle height?

i am getting tore up in my house. i got some of those zappers on amazon, someone posted about in this thread. i have them at the same height of my bed and not much luck. tried them lower too, i have a few of them around the house. different heights just incase, one on a counter height, one on the floor in another room, my room one on the end table. and one on the floor in my daughters room. just not having much luck getting rid of them. my legs are basically one big bite at this point.

Similar issues here, but went around the house shoring up ANY sources of water. Much better now, but it’s also getting cold at night, so could be both

This is supposed to be the magic sauce.  I just recieved it today.  We will see how it works.  It kind of smells like hippie dippie aroma therapy stuff you would find at a beach vendor.  Don't care if it works....

im out in palm springs, its still high 70s at night. i been trying to keep any water dry, only thing i have is the dogs bowl. everything else is dry. never had an issue like i am this past month. its bad. backyard is all fake grass, no water is on back there. hopefully when it starts to cool off more they will go away.

I'm getting Effing destroyed in Carlsbad.

Over it, waking up every night itching like crazy.
Me Too / Its CRAZY.....almost riping my skin off some nights!!!!

Keep in mind folks, there is a good chance it's not your house.  My neighbor has a hot house, fish pond, dogs and a garden......  plus half a block away there is a lake.  If it's not me, doing my best with standing water is not going to make any difference...

& fwiw, the hydrocortisone helps relieve the burn.  It takes 10 to 15 minutes,  but it helps me. I keep it in thw garage now..
