Help with a new (to me) truck

Following up on this thread. I FINALLY bought a truck. It honestly took me this long to make a decision and it finally came down to the cost of these "new" trucks. Market still hasn't really changed and I don't think it ever will. I couldn't swallow the pill of spending $50k+ on a truck with over 100k. I found a couple nice 2015-16 F250s and some 2011+ Chevys that were enticing, but there was a lot left to be desired and I wasn't going to pay the price tag for something I'd still want to upgrade. So I decided to look deep for a 7.3 and found a pretty darn clean one. It's a 2000 with 222k on the clock. Has all the necessary upgrades for towing including add a leaf, bags, bilsteins, tune, etc. And best part it's non catalyst so no smog issues. Since, i've put a new head unit in it to run Torque Pro to have all my gauges digital. I cleaned a good chunk of old oil off the engine bay and did a full detail. The truck looks great. It needs an O-ring replacement on the turbo pedestal and probably could use a replacement on the HPOP too, but it's not pressing at the moment. I'll also do a full service to trans and diffs. It has new ball joints, but will need new trackbar mounts, and new tie rod ends. I'll update the headlights to 05+ harley davidsons, rear view mirrors, and add some lower Baja Designs fog lights for pulling into the dunes at night. Also has a new fox stabilizer on it. All in all happy with the purchase, and spent WAY less than going the new truck route. LRS posted his sons truck up forsale which was very tempting, but I had already made on offer on this unit so went this direction. Thanks for all the input on this thread guys, definitely helped me make an educated decision. Looking forward to putting it to work

Congrats.

New and Near New Market is still very $$$.

Smart move for a Truck that will do everything you need it to.

I looked from Idaho to Texas, and found a few really interesting ones. One that I almost pulled the trigger on was a 2013 F250 with 75,000 miles, single older gentleman owner, unmolested for $33,900. But it was used as a tow vehicle through snow in northern Utah, so there was frame rust. And those 11-14s need the turbo upgrade. Also needed tires, brake controller, etc etc. I would've been in it around $45k once I was done with my additions to it. It would've still been a decent buy, but couldn't justify it. The 7.3 will do everything I ask of it, and was less than half the cost.

Congrats on finding a truck!
