Glamis Only Speed Reviews

Speed UTV took a nice tumble. It rolled several times and appears to have held up.
Wife did almost exactly that years ago with the stock cage. Rolled it back over, put all the shit back in the glovebox, zip-tied one of the whips to the cage, and she towed out another buggy (that caused the roll). 🤣

Scary as hell though. Looks like the Speed held up, and luckily sand is forgiving of rolls like that.

I finally have a Glamis review. I drove the speed all last weekend and it was flawless. I am about to hit 500 miles and I haven’t had one issue. I haven’t even broke a belt. It’s probably because I bought the white glove warranty. I did take the windshield out and the car has only gotten up to 202 since doing that. I also took the clutch cover off. The hottest belt temp I have had since doing that is 164. My thought is it’s better to replace a clutch every few seasons rather than 20 belts. Power is great for a stock side by side. It powers up everything. I drive in 2nd and 4wd all the time. The suspension on this thing is amazing. It has zero chop and is the most plush car I have ever driven. This would be an amazing vehicle for someone with a bad back. I was able to get it up 76 through the big whoops along sand highway and it was perfectly stable. I was a little worried about rolling it on a dune ride because I normally drive a funco and I tend to whip and drift through turns. Hasn’t rolled on me yet but we will see what happens as I get more seat time and my speeds start to pick up. I am going to ask for my speed key in the morning. Hopefully they send it to me.
What number car? Saw someone ripping all around last weekend in a Speed. Didn't look nearly as slow as the early models in limp mode, suspension definitely looked plush.

We have 655. It’s Teal and Purple. I was shocked how hard it pulled up olds. It goes through the big bumps with ease at full throttle.

Nice! Pretty sure I saw you over at Sunset. Looked to handle well

Rolls like that are gnarly.

Slow, Top heavy and way underpowered....

Sounds like the time I rolled my ATC200s all the way down sandy Comp Hill at White Water (Palm Springs area)...didn't turn and cut back down when I had no more momentum....haha, Dad and Grampa laughed and pointed.

No cage to chop off my hands/arms tho...

I’ve probably have 500 passes up that hill. Use to race Harry the owner of Trinity back then. He kept telling me I should take my quad to him and make it faster. I laughed and told him he had to outrun me first.

Harry was a nut, when LBZ was a thing in the 90s that guy partied HARD in the Anaheim area...haha.

Yeah, that was our area for YEARS.

RIP WHITE WATER and camping under the Hwy 111 bridge, stream.

That was me. So far I am really impressed. Just crossed the 500 mile mark and the speed key got shipped to my house in Arizona so I should have some feedback on the 300hp tune.

I had a whole weekend with the speed key. I first topped the car off with E85 after a short ride. The sensor was reading about 25% ethanol. Just using the speed appeared to add about 25% responsiveness down low. After a couple more top offs I am sitting at about 70%. At 70% this car is a completely different animal on power. IMO with the speed key the 4 seater now has the perfect power to weight combo. Tune sounds amazing and power is really snapping at a 40-50 stab. It pushes you back in the seat and the front end starts pop up. We put about 70 miles on the car and we did a Roadrunner to swing set, swing set to the hill, hill to the vendors, vendors to the swing set run, swing set to road runner and it used about 8 gallons. That’s about the longest ride we do through the dunes with the exception of adding China wall to the mix some times. So it has plenty of gas tank for that ride at least. That was also me leading as fast as I can go. Overall feedback is they probably should have had the speed key tune the whole time because it is a totally different animal. I will provide more feedback after Thanksgiving when I get to 85% and we have the full 300hp they claim.

That sounds promising. So do you have to mix some oil into the fuel when running it on E85? I thought I read something about that. Does the clutching need adjustment for such a big power change?

That's awesome to hear, it what everyone was hoping for. Congrats on seeing ti come alive to what you hoped for.

We run top in lube in our E85 already so it wasn’t a change for us. We run it for the smell. I like the grape drink smell. A friend of mine runs a weed smell one. I am sure there are benefits to running top in lube but we run it only for smell purposes. We didn’t change anything with the clutching. It honestly performed better on the speed key than it did before. So maybe the clutching was done for it in the first place and that’s why it’s laggy without it.

How's your MPG changed from 91 to E85?

Fk I knew I should have waited for my Speed car or worked harder to get the 2 seater that so many have posted. Just for the weed smell It would be well worth it. Last time I listen to my friends to get out and buy my Mav R. I guess Im just gonna have to keep my bong in the cup holder to get the weed smell.
