Gas vs Diesel truck? Pros/cons

That is a small truck to be towing a 20' enclosed.   Just get a 1/2 ton truck.  They all ride really nice. Both Ford and Toyota have nice twin turbo V6 motors that have great hp/tq and would tow you 20' enclosed no problem.
I have a 2018 GMC Canyon for work and tow a 12' trailer every once in a while.  I load it up with gang boxes and ladders.  The engine tows it and the brakes stop it just fine but It don't like towing, to much tail wagging the dog. I would not want to tow anything much bigger with my truck

related subject  -  I am looking a new 1/2 ton  - Don't really tow anything but an open trailer and occasionally the 20ft enclosed.  Moho tows the trailer most of the time.

Not sure which way to go .. always been a Chevy guy and 3/4 ton, owned F250's on the ford side, the new Rams supposedly are tough and ride well. some have Diesel offering as well

Friends are saying wait for the biggest newly redesigned 2023 Colorado ZR2 with 7.8K towing and 430HP 2.7L  - is that even a consideration?

@Rockwood
The difference in size between a "1/4 ton" and a "1/2 ton" is really marginal anyway.  Ram or F-150 are head and shoulders above the rest in the 1/2 ton segment.  Ram if you want comfort, F-150 if you want power and capability.
