1964 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

Custom fixture so now when I lower the transmission and the whole back of the cradle it doesn't flop around like a fish on that transmission mount. Vice grips to hold it with rubber pads at the bottom so I didn't have to drill any holes. I made it in three pieces so in theory it could be packed up and taken on the road if I drive this up to LS fest to Vegas or Texas. If this thing got a flat on the road it would have to go to a shop with a hoist to get a rear tire off.

Metal work for the whole back portion of the dog house is completely done. Seam sealed and sprayed with undercoat. Even with a respirator I thought I was going to die up in there. My head is killing me now.

Been a long time coming but did the first piece of plumbing today. Had some black Fragola push lock fittings and hose laying around. Figured I might as well use it. Still has a 300 pound working pressure.

Jezuz...

What the hell is that rear diff outa!?!?!

Well I was going to address the sound system at a later date but decided to rob the fosgate amp out of the motorhome sound system so at least I can get it mounted along with the fuse panel and Holley computer. Wiring is going to be a big job on this truck.

Well this is super cool. Called crutchfield this morning. Which by the way they are such an awesome company to work with. I have built a lot of systems using them and they help you through every detail. Was looking at one of those little cheapy boxes to just connect to the amp and have the Android talk to it by bluetooth. But they said the quality would not be as good as an actual receiver. So Kenwood has this receiver that you can control it completely through an app on your phone. Since I did not want to put a receiver in the dash. I can remote Mount this back in the corner with the amp and control it through my phone along with YouTube music. Sweet

Photo this morning after all that rubberized undercoating dried. I will do the rest of the front inner fender Wells later. At least for now we can stick the radiator back in it. Start getting the front drive on the motor all assembled. Up top I'm hoping to do dynamat and some black carpet on the interior at some point. Yet to be seen if I will hire someone to do the interior or do it myself. Probably end up trying to figure out how to do it myself. Can't be that hard right? LOL

I'd call them back you are not going to get "complete control" from a head unit like you posted. You want something more like this.
Plus this looks like a dash gauge.

I run the Kenwood radios in my truck and motorhome, neither of them are complete phone controlled, especially the volume.
Granted my Kenwoods are a few years old now, but not what you described as far as control goes. I can switch songs from the APP but that's about it.

Wow, Reading the reviews on the Kenwood app they are horrible. I think I have a spot for the receiver I can reach. Shoot I might just use my older Kenwood model. Thanks

Painless kit. Piece of cake.

Ya know...

Kicker makes a little blue tooth unit with no moving parts. It's controlled by your phone and outputs to any amp.

It's a marine unit, so it's weather proof.

They have a few different models. My buddy has one in his golf cart. Works great.

I think this is the most compact unit?

Pretty cool. This unit looks interesting to go along with that remote. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/ite...461c1a9&utm_campaign=SKU&utm_term=Kicker KMC3

So it looks like to me that last combo does the same thing as what Dune n track posted. But The Kicker unit has a digital display whereas the Fusion does not. On either one that little controller would mount nicely on my center console switch panel.

That Kicker marine receiver has some great reviews on Crutchfields site. It fits in a 3" hole and is only 5" Deep. Think I will call Crutchfield today. For sure returning the Kenwood with remote amp. Those reviews were abysmal.

@RiverDave is the resident expert when it comes to Kicker. 👍🏼

I'm not sure if Kicker does, but I believe there are Bluetooth units that don't even need something in the dash.

You can hide everything and control it all from your phone. Really, that's all one needs anymore!

Talked to crutchfield this morning and I did order that Marine receiver and the little small controller that goes with it. I will bypass the amp built into the receiver since it will have a fosgate amp.

The crossovers for the Polk door speakers will also go on this mount on the passenger side. Then drivers side my 10 inch sub will hide way back in the corner. Attach a little Mount at the top to the roll bar for that. Then driver side will also have the kicker receiver and fuse panel. Looks like 12 switches in the center console switch panel. Oh and probably eight relays in that right passenger side.

Electric power steering controller will have to be mounted under the dash. The wire going to the adjustable rheostat knob is 22 in so I will drill a hole through the dash somewhere and mount that switch to have adjustment. That will be the only knob I will have to loosen the shoulder straps to get to most likely.
