1967 Dodge A-100 Hot rod sort of rat rod build thread.

How about a boat bell housing?

The type that the starter bolts into from the top/back?

Well home Depot has that hoist $500 off right now so I went ahead and ordered one although I'm not quite ready for it. For now I'll just store it at the shop for that kind of discount.

Bronze really pops against that gloss black paint. I love it.

My brother is an amazing graphic designer. Him and I were talking about trying to patina paint our shop logo that I had in the back. He came up with this and said why don't we just do a wrap and put on top of it. I think it is amazing and told him go ahead.

Notched the frame mount so now I can raise the motor high enough to slide the motor mounts out like butter

Post on the starter should clear now. I will check it tomorrow when the paint dries. Bench tested the used gm starter and it seemed to work fine.

Passenger side floor is done. Huge thanks to Spencer Roth for jumping in and helping me finish this truck. No more lone Wolf in it. Along with the rest of the interior metal work he will also do a lot of the wiring and plumbing to finish this thing.

I had one project left to finish this intercooler box. There was a quarter inch Gap and I did not want it sucking hot air through there. So I cut some quarter inch thick rubber strips.

Been researching air filters along with going back to some of our experience on the dyno. Also talked to a good buddy of mine that used to do a lot of high-end dyno tuning. This size and style air filter you find in a lot of the GT500s with the coyote and the hellcats. A lot of those cars in the 680 to 750 horsepower range. It is big but I think it's about the best I can get it to look and yet have enough air flow.

My big steel custom logo is All Glass beaded and painted flat black. Then I masked it in painted the four gears bronze. Now my brother is working on the patina wrap for it. Pretty excited about this piece. I actually thought about deleting it from the truck at one point but it really feels that hole above the transmission. And with the doors being curved I really couldn't put the logo on the doors and make it look the way I wanted it to.

Well I have the whole underneath of this truck stuffed full. One place left for the engine oil cooler. I bought the exact same Setrab cooler I have in the funco along with a new 10-in Spal fan. Now I need to build a shroud for it. Spendy but I know this unit did wonders in the buggy. Running balls out hard load it dropped my engine oil temps from 275 to about 235. Plus this truck will be running mobil one so I think anything under 250 will be more than fine. I imagine oil temps on this thing will never get above 225 or 230. Nice thing is I was able to keep that opening drawing fresh cool air into the intercooler without putting any oil coolers and introducing heat into that area.

Foot box for throttle substantially built and just needs to be finished welded. Fairly horizontal to make it comfortable and may need a box underneath for full travel. Ordered the Holly four bolt throttle cable bracket today. Once I have that we can do some measuring and then call control cables and order a custom throttle cable.

In between loading up one of our last big machines from the machine shop I was able to get a fan shroud whittled out for the engine oil cooler. I couldn't get it in the brake to do that outer lip so I had to clamp it on the edge of my welding bench and beat that lip over with a hammer. After we put some welds on the corners I need to make end brackets to attach it to the cooler. Then make brackets to put it in the truck.

We both stared at this back trying to figure out how to do it. I sure am glad Spencer figured it out. Would have taken me a hell of a lot longer.

Drivers floor almost done. Not going to do anymore until we get a throttle cable hooked up. May have to put a pedal box in for More travel.
