We glued the edge of the dash down today and ready to install the windshield. The one little bad spot is better and the rubber molding will cover most of it up. Ready to be done with this part.
Started cutting and grinding on the factory C7 corvette pedal today and it is not going to work. Need to build one from steel from scratch. It will bolt to the fly by wire assembly.
Throttle pedal made. Now I need to weld tabs to attach it to the fly by wire assembly. Thinking I might cut the stock brake pedal and arm apart and fabricate a pedal to match. Plus a better location down lower.
Dum dum in the gaps then a full layer on top of the leather. We stacked two rubber gaskets on each end. The some masking tape so the frame does not stick to the dum dum.
Dash and windshield done and installed. Happy to move on. All the hours were worth it. Fitment came out really good. If you look around at these cars fitment is quite often very poor.
I was hoping we would have one part with some original 59 year old paint on it and we have it. The original gasket for the housing for the license plate light has a little paint on the edge. You will never be able to see it but it is there. Might need to consider an LED bulb.
Every square inch of the Vintage air unit has been kissed and touched. After assembly it sat over night with a vacuum to make sure it seals. Pretty tough to get it in and out. You can see the flat plate epoxied on the back to delete the 2 defroster vents. We had to prime the plastic before painting it.
There is a second smaller door rubber on each side. For whatever reason the 3m weatherstrip adhesive did not stick to the rubber. Peeled right off. We have new ones that are the same. No sure the deal here. Try again.
First stage done and holes drilled for the AC lines trim plate. Need to machine in the mill. Back side will need recessed for clearance. Trying to decide what color to paint it. Thinking yellow.
We have an electric emergency brake kit ordered from Wilwood. Should let us delete the stock bulky arm from under the dash and all those cables that run underneath the car. Also back left you can see the receiver dryer for the AC is painted Misty root beer. Bracket for this got powder coated.
Rear deck lid and fuel tank cover needed some more work before final assembly. Painted the computer plate covers darker and they look much better. Also with that electric pump right behind your head we covered the bottom in Dynamat for noise. I don't have a pic but it is final installed.
