kid at work has a diesel 5 speed VW wagon that gets 40-50MPG.  But just cost him $2200 for a clutch job at 130k miles.

I am well aware. It was an out-and-out scam from its inception. Once they got caught rolling a non-operational truck downhill to pass it off as reality, among many other lies, they pivoted from the original pie in the sky BS to just buying Iveco rolling chassis and converting them. Another joke operation sopping up government subsidies.

that sucks.  Ive never really looked into them other than a quick glance to see what they were trying to make.  I suppose if you had a lot of local deliveries, they might be useful, but the whole EV thing just seems unreasonable to me for mass use.
