Which car would you choose?

I don't know what I like or want. It is hard to judge just based on looks alone. My experience is I owned a corvair powered home built 2 seat rail 25+ years ago for a short time. I have ridden in a 100K 2 seat sandcar and was very impressed, but that's out of my league. I have drove a 2 seat X3 in the dunes and it was ok power and suspension wise but I would like something more back and body friendly that has better suspension so I can dune longer and not get so beat up from beat up dunes. What ever I buy I intend to keep for a long time. Thank you for the advise.
All you can do is make the best decision you can and go from there. You can always make changes and improvements to any car. What will satisfy you may be totally wrong for the next person. I've had my car 14 years and made a ton of changes. For the money spent I could have a G52. Just wouldn't have enjoyed all there was to learn about sand cars. If you find whatever you get a total mistake, no big deal. Sell it and try again, heck it may take 3 or 4 try's to find your dream ride. You may also find you wish you had one you got rid of.

I know the owner of that green S&S car. Dunes awesome and has been well maintained. The price he is asking for the car, makes it a no brainer.
I was impressed with the maintenance.

Man you have a lot of opinions here and you know what they say right? They’re like a-holes. Everyone’s got ‘em and they all stink. Want mine? I wouldn’t go for either. Save your money. Season is almost over and you might score on something better for less. You don’t want to buy a Gen 2 and put a bunch of money into it, what’s the point if you don’t already have the budget

It also comes down to a few different factors. Were the cars taken care of? Frame cracks? Engine, trans in good shape? seats, lights.. paint even…

When it comes to older cars you can’t just base your decision by the brand.

Maybe find out what you want. Then when you decide, search and search and search till you find exactly what you want. Don’t just pull the trigger on whatever is there.

But if you’re set on one of the two, my vote is the green S&S .

but hey, I know my opinion stinks too..

Side point: A 2D is a great transmission, especially for the power plan that is in both of those cars. 2Ds treated right will last a long time.
I appreciate everyone taking the time to post their opinion or advise, including yours thanks.

This. Condition on these matters more than which brand these days. Most of these machines are coming up on 20 years old. Some have been used once/twice a season and meticulously maintained…

Others have been ridden hard and maintained in the dunes after something broke…
