Which car would you choose? There is a 4 seat S&S with bypass rear shocks and a Funco Gen 2 with Gen 3 suspension available. Both have similar engines/transaxles, so that is not a deciding factor. Both are close in price so the price is not the deciding factor. In my other Funco thread it was suggested to get a Gen 4. I appreciate that advise but a Gen 4 is not in my budget. Which is the better sandcar to buy? If you have ridden in both I'd appreciate your opinion.

I'm partial to an SCU but it NEEDS to be LS and S4S minimum. .. I'd never trust a 2D

I know I don’t know a lot of tech stuff with the buggies,  but I’ve always been a Funco fan, watched those rigs flow through the dunes for many years, I always thought they looked the coolest, and from my point of view, rode the smoothest.  But, and there’s always that big butt, I don’t do buggies.  BUT, if I did, I would get a Funco.

Thanks for your comment. They definitely have a unique look. I’ve done some reading about Funco’s, watched videos of Funco’s duning, and I can see the “dunes like a Funco” statement. I guess my question comes down to where does a Gen2 with Gen3 suspension lays in the hierarchy of other sandcars.

If those are you only two options, the Funco is prob the best choice from a resale perspective. I personally think they are ugly as hell, but people love them!  SCU as noted above also a good choice and seem to also have a good reputation.

The SCU cars are awesome/ well built and dune awesome

i love my current one and my old one

@MGMFRP if you can swing it / thats a nice duner

as far as a 2d / mine have all lasted at least 3-4 seasons b4 getting checked

second choice is the funco

The first car I had (1st pic ) was the same motor set up as mgms sco / it ripped

my current one had issues due to the aftermarket ecu that was installed incorrectly/ ended up with an Alper 5.3 and have never looked back

that SCU is a GOOD car!

If the SCU is in the same price . I’d go SCU .
Gen 2 Funco is too dated look for me personally .

would need to see pics of the 2 cars

Here they are. Thanks for the comments guys.8D257D57-DEA4-4CE4-9FC1-34575B9C4D5D.pngE6202493-3D3E-4D66-96D8-0C37B7BE12C0.png

Thanks for the resale idea.

Thanks for mentioning your experience with the 2D. A third vote for SCU. So far it sounds like the answer is to keep saving my money for a SCU.

100 percent / its worth waiting/ you will save yourself a lot of headache and effort and will be less $$$$ in the end!

I think the s&s is a better buy if its the same power plant and trans.

I would say SCU or SU. There is a nice SU car that came up on straight up toy trader for 23k I think.
