on my 70 mile way in to work and at mile 10 i hit a bump in the road (basically a little jump) at 45 mph and my traction control light came on, i thought i caught air, but a little while later it was still on, then the stabilink message appeared and i couldn't go, no throttle but had reverse. this was 5:15 AM  after coasting backwards across three lanes down a slight hill into a parking lot I did a code scan and it said i had lost TCM communications,  i checked a relay, checked the fuse, checked for rats chewing wires as i live in the sticks, nothing  i called AAA and they towed me to work.  looks like the Transmission Control Unit went out  2013 Duramax.  it appears that controller does 2009-2015.  my buddy with his 2015 came in and i put his in my truck and it all worked

Thought i would just order one from the dealer, no luck.  they said a dealer in Redding Ca had it.  i called and they said nope there was a mistake.  out of stock and no known date.  after calling many local allison and hot rod duramax tranny shops they said they have customers without their trucks for 3 months already.  list price $701 and needs programming once installed.  looked on line and eBay and the ranges are from $600 to believe it or not $4999 for a used unit!

found one in Texas for $500 used and having it sent over.  sending the other one into Rock Auto as they said they could fix it for only $250  (rebuilt by A1Cardone) plus shipping  if that's the case that is killer.  i will then have the used one from Texas next week and the Rock Auto one in two weeks as a spare. 260k miles and has never ever let me down so this wasn't too bad

my 2011 lost the tcm with about 20k miles on it a year old. even then the dealer couldn't get one fast back ordered like 3 months they pulled a module out of another new truck on the that was in 2012.

It's a common failure, I replaced a lot of them at the dealer. Maybe there was a reason GM put them right out there on the fan shroud with nothing but 2 push pins to hold it in place for easy access when it quits communicating...lol.

Trade that bitch in for something newer, that's what the manufacturer wants you to do anyways.

Tried Merchant Automotive? They deal with Duramax and Allison Transmissions. Maybe they can help?

well i called him, he said man if i had one i'd ask a million dollars for it, there's none to be had, nothing in the US that I can find. so he said good luck lol

John, have you tri3d car-parts.com?  I've found some stuff for my 99 dodge there I did not think I was going to find. .

A lot of the Honda ECMs get fried when they steal the cats and people try to start the car....they are the same...NA..... a few small companies online are finding them and selling them.... so insane....it's literally a time of day thing...if they have one or not.  Can't wait till the chicoms drop a EMP bomb on us and they fry millions of them....

I have a 2003 duramax and mine went bad and i could not get it in gear, I sent mine back to a shop in florida and they sent me one that was pre programed to my truck, all they needed was my Vin number to program it. It was a 5 minute swap and I was back on the road. It only took like 3 days to ship to so cal. If you want , I can look for my receipt and give you their phone number , After you receive the rebuilt one you just mail your back to them.

FWIW, I used those folks to "fix" the ECM on my 99 Ram/Cummins.  3 stabs @ it & they could not get it done.  VERY unhappy with the whole experience.  but.......... they do have a lot of good reviews.

yes cause right now the other junk yards did not pan out and my tcm is trying to be repair and no answer as of yet (rock auto)

You would have thought they would have learned from the Ford PSOM modules.......

i am off on Wednesdays but my shop called and said i got my TCM back from Rock Auto/A1 Cardone.  they plugged it in and it works.  that was super cool service

no need to even program and 1/2 the cost of a new one and 1/20th the cost of a $5000 used ebay one!!

dont have the bill but think it was like $250
