Quads are too much fun to give up, I'll ride it different then my youth....but you should never stop riding. :atc70:

I still want a ATC250R   back in my life. Like an old Highschool GF, found to look back and remember, but might not be the fun ride you thought it would be LOL.

I think the full body burns, broken backs and arms, high $ cost of repairs, blown belts, insurance claims and extra seats are taking a toll on you "cage" people.

I'll strictly cruise my 70 and enjoy my kids riding when my time comes.

In the 90's my buddy camped with a married old couple :ex:   :ol:  in their 80's, Banshee Bob was his name i think.

They parked on Road Runner in a huge ass Bus RV and matching Enclosed that had the Road Runner / Coyote theme painted on it.

They rode Banshees, and I mean they rode....we could hardly keep the pace cause they were regulars and loved gong fast in the dunes.

Have pictures of them somewhere....was always funny to see them wobble over to their quads like old people, then smoke us youngsters riding.

@ChEFF all i gotta say is

badass quad there cheff.

I have been and still want to get a banshee.  Always wanted one.

She is a beauty Cheff, I’m sure you’ll be able to pull the front end up comfortably👍

Sexy ride for someone as old as you :ex:

Thanks @FENDERFAB Excited to feel the back ache / Arm Pump / A** Chaffed / Shoulder Burn. And don't forget how it felt when you removed those Tech 8's off your feet. AHHHHHHH! Peace

Riding it different wasn't the issue.  The SxS craze just killed it for us. it was either join the dark side or stay home.  The ruts are miserable these days. Way worse then they were back in 05 when all the big cars showed up.  Back in 05 when the big cars showed up they had twice the HP as the SxSs do and the tires are almost twice as wide.  When you ran across them or thru their whoops you could get on the gas lean back and skip across.  Now what you have is a SxS tire that is the same width as a quad tire that is pushing 200hp thru the sand, You can't get on top of them and you can't skip across. What did me in was the last time I rode a Quad down to the Vet Ceremony riding out it was murder when the day before, hell riding into the area was fine.

It got to the point where we would make rides in the morning and afternoon on the first day, by the second day it was one ride from there out.  at that point the juice of getting to the dunes wasn't worth the squeeze it was assimilate or die.

@Bansh88 I might believe you about never being a SxS guy, had I not believed in you never not being a trailer guy.........

Those 6 broken ribs a few years ago cured my quad attitude. The recovery was long and painful in my 50s plus the wife getting pretty angry with me.
Like @ChEFF I’m not sure I like driving the SXS in the dunes. Can’t stand up and look is big.
Today the dunes are just different. I’ll still go to spend time with friends etc.  but they are no longer my favorite place  😞

I’ve been spending more time in the open desert like Ocotillo and really enjoying that.

Damned Lake Glamis brought a bunch of SxSs into the south dunes as well. Boooooo
