We've all heard the cliche' "With Age Comes a Cage" I've gone to a cage the last 5-7 years. When I Started on the ATC110 and moved all the way to the 700 Raptor it was great. BUT......the last 5-7 years NO QUAD in my arsenal. I've got to admit, the cage is easier. Easier on the Feet / Hands / Back / Neck / whole body for that matter. The advantage to the SXS is the wife can come along and enjoy the Dunes. You can pack ICDB's by the dozens. Lunch / Snacks and be gone for many of Hours at a time. The negatives.........It's harder to read the Dunes. VISION sucks. And you're driving a car. Sandals / shoes / Ugg's / whatever you decide to wear. No protective gear needed. Just a seat belt. I miss the handle bars / the clutch / the brakes / the Body English needed to Rip Bowls, dancing across the ridges with my Bro @sndsamplr. My daughter would follow him and I and always say, you two (2) Dance like Ballerina's. She loved following us at a high rate of speed. Shoot.....everyone in our group loved following our Quad rides. Pure Fun. Our group starts later and later in the morning to go on rides. SO, With that said.......................Call it a Mid-Life Crisis if you will. I've decided to add the QUAD back into my Arsenal. 30 Min Moto's every morning before people wake up. Get the blood flowing. Stretch the Body. Gotta check and make sure the Dunes are still out there. Get back to camp. Take off the boots, install the sneakers on the feet and prepare the SXS for the relaxing cruises the rest of the day. This bad boy gets delivered Saturday to my Front Door. The owner lives down the street from us and is excited to bring it to me. Can't wait to continue the TEST...........

QUAD vs SXS. Peace

I loved the quad out in the dunes. I was the most comfortable on one there. Loved blipping off stuff, sliding into corners and dicing it up with my friends. SxS is fast is fun and as time goes by I am getting more comfortable in the car, but for me the intense concentration and mind clearing quiet isn't there.

For me though my shoulders and back ache just looking at a quad anymore and even if I did like what your talking about, I don't think I would make the morning ride in the car.

I'd have a quad again if all the dunes were still virgin like on a random Wednesday, but only being able to hit most big holidays I just feel sorry for the quad riders out there trying to ride the ruts...

Rip this bad boy out there. Buggy is fun, this is a different type of fun for a quick 30 min ride.

Even then, 30 mins on a holiday week/weekend is quite the workout.

Gonna run paddles?

Just be cautious, neighbor did the quad to his early 60's then took a bad hit. Air lift, hospital stay and end of dunes for him. Not saying it can't happen with a cage, but you certainly increase your odds of a better out come with one.

I now crested 70 and have no desire to fall into sand at any speed, even walking!

Have always had a couple quads in the stable, still have a 08 ltr450r and a 09 yfz450r both bought brand new. Those morning rides after a stiff breeze with the (adult) kids are the most memorable moments of every trip bar none. Grats on the new steed!

edit to add: Please leave that reflector on no matter how much shi# you get for it!  :classic_biggrin:

When you're young, you want to live forever.

When you're 40, you think you could do another 40, easy.

When you're over 60 (I assume, not there yet), the pain stacks and you wonder if you can take another 30.

All stock other than a 300 kit installed sometime in the late 80s.  Father-in-law bought it new in 1981.

YES. And I'm going to get my 350X back to running also. That thing taught me a lot about Duning.

Yes Sir. I totally understand. And appreciate the cautious statement. I've already had that conversation with myself. If the next quad trip don't turn out to my liking, someone is going to purchase an awesome (Ridden Once) quad. Peace

I miss the CR500 days and the quads but I cant risk getting hurt and having to wait for healing.  I decided to upgrade my SxS to get better suspension and HP for the adrenaline runs.

Maybe once I retire and dont need to go to work I will go go back to light HP.

The quad days were fun. I too had a Raptor 700, tons of torque and power. .. I've learned I'm too old/outta shape, to run a quad anymore. SXS or sand car for me.

Miss my Quadzillas. Yes, I had 2 of them. From 1987 to 2018 it was so much fun. Back trouble made me switch to SXS. Love the Can Am but still miss the quad a little.
