Out with the old...In with the new!

Ok, thought I would update this since it has been almost a year since I picked this thing up!

There have only been 2 issues:

(1) the lights on the climate control panel...some didn't light up! Everything worked just fine, they replaced that as soon as the new one came in...did it while they did an oil change!

(2) There is a recall with the tailgate and they just got the fix for it. It goes in next week for that. Electronics of course. There have been about 2500 cases where the tailgate just opens on it own.

Easy fix they said it takes about an hour.

Other than that, this thing is solid!

It's funny, because I go back to my 2004.5 LLY Duramax, that had 310 HP 510 Ft/Lb torque, and the only thing that truck needed was the 6 spd Allison and a larger Fuel tank!

My new truck although gas, has 401 HP and 464 Ft/Lb torque. It is very similar in feel to my 2004.5 with regards to towing.

I am reading so many issues with the new ones...even the dealer is telling me they are constantly in for something mostly regarding the DEF.

I have 15005 miles on it as of now and love it!

I get a ton of compliments on it too.

Buddy went similar route and has been entirely happy with it. Tows his 13k toy hauler over the SD grade perfectly fine. More RPM, sure, but still 65mph the whole way.

My wife and I just went to Vegas for a Wedding...took my truck.

I was curious how it would fuel mileage without worrying about it and keeping it right at 65 blah, just drive normal, flow of traffic and such. Pretty much was 70-ish 75...then hit some traffic

So we head out Friday morning at 8:45, non stop we get there just before Noon.

Here is what my dash stated when we got to Tim and Natalies.

Now, I did another 3.8 miles on Sunday morning and filled up just for yah yah's...I probably could have made it home, but anyone who has driven home on Sunday from Vegas, you know anything can happen.

So, I filled it up, but I wanted to calculate it myself.  Total Miles was 282.9 miles and took 15.7 gallons.

MPG was actually 18.019.

Not bad at all! I was impressed. It seems when I calculate the mileage myself it is always better than what the dash says.

So you were in Vegas and didn't even come by for a cold one?

Actually, I had thought about reaching out to you, but it was a whirlwind weekend with the weeding we had to go to.

Would have been no time to hang.

My buddy and his wife live in Summerlin off Lone Mountain and the 215...that area.

Where you at compared to that?

Next time!

Should have went to TJ's. He wouldn't make you do any yard work.

We had a 202) Dmax Dually plagued with problems. No hassle GM wrote us a HUGE check and we have 2024 Dmax Dually we really like and no issues at all.

I'm really, really ready for a new truck...
We have a 2001 GMC with a Zillion miles and thought with solar on the house,, go EV for a replacement.

The new GMC Denali EV came in with a $130.000 OTD price and we got our $100 deposit back and walked.
That truck still sits at the dealer on First St. Simi unsold a month later.

If we were going small size we'd consider the no turbo/V6 Nissan, peppy and priced below everything else. But a tiny bed. The wife hauls agri stuff and that won't work.
The F150 doesn't offer rear locker in 4x4, or didn't last we looked, to us essential but has a nice non-turbo V8.
