LT advice

One thing that most people miss are the repair costs.  Buying a $40k sandcar is one thing.  Maintaining that car so that it provides continued fun is another thing.  A few grand in the off season isn't uncommon.  Don't buy more car than you can afford the upkeep on...
That's where I sit right now.   Sure I could buy a used Funco, Could I afford to go thru it to make it up to date, maybe. If that car did as much as ran out of gas that season I would be in trouble though. So here I sit in a SxS until I can afford the cost of owning a car.

It's a tough pickle to be in. Some of the sandcar owners tell me to just buy a SxS. The SxS does more than just the dunes so in theory your dollar goes further. Then I read about SxS owners and their problems with Can Am dealer warranty problems or unresolved software/computer problems. At least you can work on a sandcar yourself and not be dependant on proprietary SxS software.

I’ve always had sand cars for the dunes but decided to give a SxS a try for the last two seasons.
The SxS is fun and it can go many places including public streets in some states, but it’s not a sand car.
I’ll be going back to a sand car once I sell my SxS.

I would hate to miss trips because I had to take my car to the dealer.  With my Sand Car, I have never missed a trip due to it being broken.  I have had a car since 1998.  Fact is before that, I had many quads and two wheelers, never missed a trip in my life due to a breakage, all the way back to 1972.  I will not rely on a warranty and a dealer for my fun, life is too short.

I'm with what Reece said....

But w/a dif motor.  Back in the 80's, I was duning like crazy.  It was nothing to run out for Sunday afternoon (I lived in Yuma then).  I was running a swingaxle w/a 2,000 Pinto.  After 3 years, I changed my sparkplugs.  For, that 3 years, all I did was change my oil.

You need to find our how much you are spending first.

Great info. The Chenowth chassis looks like a solid frame. How do those rate?

My car is a Chenowth car though it has had major modification.

Picture of a similar car as mine was when I got it and now.

Went from vw swing axle beam to a Honda 2D car with some suspension.

2 seat, 15-25k, Dunes/Road, wheelie/jump occasionally

Go buy Gingerbread mans S&S in the for sale section.  It won't wheelie but I don't think anything will wheelie for 25k more than once.
