KLCs up and coming new 4 seater

Eric spent quite a bit of time fabricating the rear upper shock mounts. They aren't just hollow boxes, there's a lot going on with them. Ever tried to bend and shape 4130? It's really a tough material to work with. And fawk he got the rear pivots all burned in, they are permanent for sure! We enlarged the front and rear lower control arm mounting bolts from 1/2" to 5/8" and used Delrin bushings, the sleeves had to be machined down for the right amount of clearance. The wheelbase came out to the precalculated length of 128". We couldn't wait to bolt on some suspension parts and see what it will look like. Maybe it will become a roller in the next few days.

Yes! Very, very hard to do. Sprint / super modified car chassis are labeled "One Season Only". Afterwards, the local guys buy to use for their cars. Many are bent and need repair. Remember one was banana shaped, about 3" to right. Had to pull over 12" to 14" past straight to the left repeatable times to correct. Can't imagine the work it took for your shock mounts, nice job!

Love these threads! (Except for the part about reminding me how bad my welding skills are....)

The welds are like artwork.  Killer build, cant wait to see it all finished up!

Unfortunately there has been zero further progress. We brought the car home and put it in the garage and that has been it. I haven't been too motivated to try and piece it back together, there is a lot of fabrication work that needs to be done still.  We will for sure miss out on the upcoming dune season in it's entirety, Time will tell what becomes of this project...lately I have been preoccupied with a new job and my passion for saltwater aquaria. One of these days when the weather cools off enough to spend some time in the garage I will get back on it.
