I’m going to be selling my SxS, 5th wheel toy hauler and truck soon and buy a Jeep Wrangler or something similar.
I know nothing about Jeeps or other comparable brands.
My budget will be around $20k. I will use it as a daily driver, flat tow it behind the Moho, and some mild off roading like fire roads to destination points. I want an automatic and think a 2 door.
I’m all ears.

FJ Cruisers are about perfect for what you want. You can find them for that price point but they will have  a bunch of miles. I think they are far overpriced right now. Wranglers may give you much more for the money and the aftermarket support is insane. You'll look like every other guy on the trail though.

With a 20K budget....look carefully at what you are buying... All of the jeeps pre 2012 get horrible mileage...the v6 from -7-11 is junk.

Thanks for all of your feedback.
I’m thinking a 2 door because I rarely use the back seat in my 4 door truck.

Two Jeeps in my fleet.

With the FJ you can't really put much bigger of a tire without mod'ing the front body mounts.

Everybody has Jeeps.

I've seen some nicely done FJ's.

Which is more capable for the type of trail riding you want to do? Is there any issues with either being a Toad behind a MH?

FJ Cruisers are nice! Plus, its a Toyota.

A guy I used to work with had one done up probably the nicest I have ever seen.

I don't mean nice as in bling bling...He had boxed arms, beadlocks, Cage, the thing sat at perfect height, Looked like a mini trophy truck, not flashy, but completely functional!

If it's truly just fireroads and such, and stays that way, there are a lot of vehicles for $20k that will do that.

Jeep would be my vote for future capability.  Don't pay the premium for the Rubicon, you won't need it.  By the time you do, that money is better spent on better parts anyway.

I recently got a 2005 sequoia as an off road toy and so far love it. I need the seats with 3 kids.

you may consider a lexus gx smaller with v8 bulletproof engine, theres a reason world govts build these to transport dignitaries

If you get a Jeep get one with the 3.6 in it the 3.8 was Horrible in my opinion. If you want an older one buy an LJ with a 4.0 in it. That is the exact Jeep I want Next

My old 08. It has 4 doors and is heavy so not super friendly as a toad but damn, it four wheeled good. These also became super expensive for what they are (V8 4runner) because they somehow became popular for overlanding.
