How Much $ Would You Sacrifice To Be Happy In Your Career?!?

I’ve been dealing with work woes myself. Growing up I had a great job in construction for 14 years til the crash of 08’. Then I needed to find a new career. I ended up landing a job at my current company. I went from $28 - $20/hr. Started back over from the bottom. My current company is commercial HVAC so I was enrolled in the 5yr apprenticeship schooling at 40 years old. Man that sucked! Now I’m making pretty good money but I work too damn much! I’m one of the hardest workers in the company and have a hard time saying no so they just pile more and more on me. The last 2 years I’ve been drowning in work and asking for help but getting none. I try to move up but they won’t because they need me where I’m at busting my balls. So I dusted off the resume and gave it a good polishing! Started sending it out last week and had a bunch of hits. All positions are supervisor or managers positions so no more turning wrenches but a pay cut will follow. For me, it’s only $10-$15k a year cut so not as big. Got an interview Monday and hope I get it so my current Employer can feel the pain when I give my 2 weeks!

Horizon is a big company and working in a field you are passionate about would be fun.   If it was for Team Associated I would say go for it.  LOL!

Just have to figure out if you can afford to take that significant of a pay cut.
Nope. Losi all the way.

I have a guy like you. Boss should be able to see the stress from being overworked. I tell mine to take a week and come back fresh. We’ll figure it out

The boss should care but he doesn’t. A year ago I had a panic attack from all the stress. First time I ever had one and it was no joke. This happened on a Saturday trying to schedule and plan out the following weeks work. Mind you scheduling isn’t my job nor am I paid to do it. So I come into work on Monday and remove myself from a future job they scheduled for me without asking. This job was a weekend job not a regular work week job. My boss tells me I have no right to tell him what I’m gonna do and what I’m not gonna do. He says I hear you’re not feeling well and hope you get better but not an excuse to pull myself from work! Almost knocked him the “F” out!

Competence kills more employees than heart disease.

Fresh start will be good for you, sometimes you have to just step back from things.

This why I went back to basics- hiring skilled labors as a licensed handyman business.  Pretty soon as a licensed contractor.  Only the best of the best.  Cutting the 30% profit margin of competitors to 15%-20% because I'm not greedy and could realistically live on 10%.

I appreciate the kind words guys. My point is you will hit a tipping point. I hit mine. Now prioritize what’s important. Is your happiness or are your finances more important? I choose a pay cut but more time with the family and more time at the desert! I’m excited about this seemingly win win situation I can be in.

Joe, I went from 350k/yr to 185k/yr and it saved my life.  I nearly committed suicide 18-20 months ago.  Other than my wife and dad, no one else knew about it.
We all got phones, my number ain't changed in 30 years. Call me if you need an ear to chew on. You got more important things to take care of and family and friends that loves you.

My kid is really into r/c racing.   Been rocking the Team Associated 1/8th scale stuff for awhile and picked them up as sponsor this year.
Are there any tracks near Orange county that are still open for 1/8 cars?

Only for electric, there's a track(Huckleberry R/C) at the RIverLakes but no nitro allowed because it kills the fish

Huckleberry in Anaheim at the Santa Ana River Lakes does 1/8th scale electric.   Otherwise you have to go to Thunder Alley, the Dirt, or Palm Desert.   Can head up toward Camarillo and Freedom Park does 1/8th scale (Friday night is racing - this is our quasi home track.). Further up is Channel Island in Santa Barbara.

I think they just don't want to deal with the noise of nitro there.  Plus it will make the Peacocks mad.  LOL!

I actually know the facilities mgr, they run a few nights a week normally but the nitro is bad stuff. The track is directly next to the kids fish pond and it get's pretty thick over there

We hit up Hotrods when they have a new layout or my kids wants to go screw around racing with some of his buddies there or when JBRL makes the last stop of the series there.

Jimmy is a good dude.

You 1/5th scale guys need to convince Proline to host a race at their track.

That pond is a gold mine during the summer.  We went out for a Sunday club race and that pond was packed with people.

Allegedly they are going to host more events this year.  We were there in January for Westergaard's race and be back when JBRL is there.
