High end tequila….

Pretty much, I buy expensive enough to not be wack dead in the morning.

My dad only had this garbage barrel bottle of Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville, and damn that hurt in the morning. I only had maybe 5oz of it....
Hangovers suck and they suck more when you are no longer in your twenties or thirties.

I like many others have tasted some great Tequila, I also like  Don Julio 1942 ,But for me "Arrecife Plata " is my favorite, I can not find it in the states .

No matter how many times I try it, I just don't like ANYTHING with the Jose Cuervo name on it, including Reserva De La Familia. To me that's margarita tequila, along with Hornitos and Tres Generations.

Clase Azul Reposado is one of my favorites, also 1942. But I think Casamigos Reposado is the best bang for the buck, has a nice carmel/vanilla flavor.

1942 is my go-to but this is my new flavor to enjoy.

Yeah it's funny.  Tequila basically started with Jose and then (one I can't remember, Juarez?) became popular followed by Patron for a decade or so.  Now it's all Don Julio and Casamigos plus a slew of other "celeb lifestyle" tequilas (Don't try Kendal Jenner's it sucks ass).  These are just the popular mid range ones.  On the high end it seems to be Azul and 1942 that are the most popular/available and they are both great . . .

Well....  I finally cracked this open tonight.  Boy is it interesting.   Lots of complexity.  Definitely has that unmistakable tequila flavor.

We recently bought a bottle of the Rock's brand Teremana and a bottle of Sammy's new stuff Santos (could be slightly off on both names). These are more of a mid to low grade tequilla based on price. Anyway both were Repos. The Teremana was pretty darn good and the Santos was not something I'd ever buy again. For that matter I wasn't a fan of the Cabo Wabo stuff either. Teremana now has an Anejo out so we'll give that a shot (get it) next.

For high end the 1942 is a little to "vanilla'y" to me. Super smooth though.

I like the Clase Azul and all of the Don Julios. The new clear anejo 70 is something to try.

For cheap drinking anejo I usually get Centenario for about $30.

I actually really like the vanilla notes on the finish of the 1942. I’ve just had it enough that I don’t look to buy it that often. With that being said I’m in Kingman Arizona for my dads funeral and had to buy some sandals for one of my kids at Walmart. I saw they had 42 for 150 so I got us a bottle for the reception.

I love me some tequila. I agree Don Julio 1942 is pretty damn delicious. The Casa Amigos Añejo can stand up to a lot more expensive tequilas. Here are a couple I didn’t see on here that I find to be pretty damn delicious

Avion 44 extra anejo - blows away 1942 IMO at the same price range if not a little less

Dame Mas extra Anejo - a little on the pricey side $200ish but smooth as silk and a great taste

Adictivo Doble Reposado -My current favorite!  go with the Doble as opposed to the regular Reposado. Best deal on tequilas, it’s at around the $55 range but can stand up to ANY $100-$150 bottle all day  they make an anejo and extra añejo as well but I like the Reposado better than the more expensive ones  the Adictivo extra anejo is great but has a Brandy type after taste that took away from the tequilaness(if that’s a word) from the drink

Thank you for the suggestions. Will add these to the list of need to try.

I absolutely love tequila, partly because it’s the only liquor that doesn’t give me massive headaches. I don’t get angry like other stuff and when my wife and I drink it together sometimes her clothes fall off.
We go to Mexico a lot and down past rosarito there is a liquor store that you wouldn’t know was a liquor store. You can go into a back room and they have every kind of tequila you could imagine. That’s where I discovered clase azul a few years back. Have tried some other great ones from there too, but unfortunately I can’t tell remember the names, I haven’t seen them since.

I miss our trips to Baja, MX. On the fence lately going back, friends of ours have and had great trips.

It seems there are some tequila's I could be sipping on from reading this thread.

We have been renting a house on the beach the last couple of years in La Mission, a couple of miles south of Puerto Nuevo.  Will be down there in two weeks, right on the water.  Tequilla and sand is my goal

20 some years ago I got this bottle down in Puerto Nuevo. One of the best bottles of Tequila I have ever had.
