Glamis 911

There was a guy posting on FB that he called them and the truck with tracks got buried in the easy stuff. He posted pics of it while it was stuck, then pics of their second truck rescuing their first truck, leaving him out there for a few more hours.

He was not happy and made it very clear about that on FB. Of course the problem with a tracked vehicle is you can't air them down for more traction. It appeared that the driver with tracks wasn't that familiar with sand dunes. Hopefully they learned a lot from that experience and maybe switched back to tires. So far, That's all I've seen posted about them.

That can happen to any vehicle in the sand...End User Error.

The video clip would be cool to see.

Absolutely! But if you're charging people to rescue them, they're probably expecting the rescuers not to make rookie mistakes.

It looks like the owner of the FB page took the original post down, but here is a post from Glamis Recovery explaining what happened. They said the truck broke down, trans cable broke, they weren't stuck. Either way, the truck was disabled and the customer had to wait 5 hrs to get recovered. Considering all of the alternatives, that's better than leaving it overnight or trashing another dune vehicle trying to tow it out.

I've seen them post they're offering coverage for the entire season for $250 for a limited time. That's a great deal, considering how far out there one could get stranded and they're not charging by the hour. In their other videos, it looks like those tracks work very well in the sand.

What a great job to apply for. A veteran Duner could make some cash. Poule and sndsmplr were my rescue once. Thanks guys., Peace

Met the owner a few weeks ago while they were out there setting up camp and testing. Nice guys.

Bailed me out by selling me a 2"-2.5" receiver adapter off his truck for cost.

Would it not be cheaper and better with 4 aired down paddles? Take off all the extra weight and run paddles, or maybe to much stress on the drive line? Good for them capitalizing on a market, so many business opportunity out there from delivery, gen repair, and maintenance services and more..

Tracks seem to do a lot better over paddles when doing recovery.

On the sand cat i can see that as it has a lot more surface area to plant the tracks on. With this 4 point set up and additional weight I do not see it venturing into the dunes behind china after a good wind. I guess this season will put it to

the test.

I think the cat is a much better option.   At Pismo they had a tow rid with big monter truck type tires on it with very little tread.

I would think taking any truck out deep in the dunes would not be fun.    I am sure those guys were busy this weekend.  Hopefully we get to see some videos of the recoveries they do.

There was a member on the old forum that had a Tahoe setup to recover, and drive on the street. Lockers, bead locks and low gears. Watch him recover one from big sand between Osbourne and Olds.

So...  Sadly I had to use them. Me and a buddy hit mother G a little early  and headed out Wednesday. Unloaded and buddy got ansy and wanted to hit some small dunes to feel his ride. We stopped on a dune to check things out and my car didn't want to restart. Battery. He tried to pull me to bump start and he got stuck. No one out that night. we called glamis 911 and were told there was no one there and they could pick us up in the morning this was about 10:30 11:00 if i'm not mistaken.  We asked them if they had a jump box and we were told they might be able to bring us one if we met them at the washes. If i could get to the washes I wouldn't have needed them. Needless to say not to thrilled from the "24 hour " service. Didn't think I would even have to use them , got the insurance for just in case. But not to thrilled by paying them and waiting for someone to some through. getting back to camp at 3:30 was fun though. 🙄

I dont have any skin in this game, but am a bit confused.........

Did they end up doing anything for you or not?

If not, how did you get back to camp?

We watched them last year cruising around, they walked up Brawley Slide with the tracks, no way they could have done that with paddles.  Then when coming down one of the tracks broke and they had to fix it on the hill.  Didn't look fun.

No they didn't do anything. Waited and we were shoveling out the one rail and a couple guys in a YXZ came by and helped us out.

Saw the aftermath of that track coming off as well, watched them beat on for 30 mins or so then took off, didn't realize at the time they were testing for their new service. First time I had seen a full sized truck on tracks.
