Ghost Camping was a topic at the DAC meeting

Whaaaaa. Do something about the fireworks and loud music late at night first. Maybe the azzholes that leave their trash? Nah, ghost camping is way more crucial. I know a guy that got into a fist fight and the tip of his finger was bitten off. Called 911 and they wouldn't come out. But ghost camping is ruining then dunes.

There are fireworks and loud music on Gecko?  LOL!

Other than wash 6 the other areas seem pretty tame.

So, what your swaying is if they crack down on all the rules you don't break or like first there will be no people left to complain about the rules you think are unjust and unnecessary that you may or may not in your opinion break?

Just the beginning of the process to turn Gecko into reserved camping spots is all. Will be a great revenue generator for the BLM.
Hooray for me, Eff everyone else mentality always leads to money making opportunities for government entities.

This was my comment back to them: enforce the rules as written. No need to expand on it.

If ghost camping is on their RADAR, then enforce it. If people just pay the fines and keep doing it, discourage it further by towing. Giant Class A would be hard, but the trailer would be easy.

sucks trying to get a space on Gecko any big weekend which is pretty much after camp RZR........... It really does. Causes a lot of people a lot of stress and it really impacts lots of people

. Fireworks (if they get cleaned  up) dont bother me (just the dog a little) But the trash in the dunes REALLY pisses me off.

I really hope  people who just leave their rig for the season and are in the city working OR just leave unattended camps for the season stop doing that. A lot of time I end up squeezing in places just not to have to be in the washes............ If it wasn't for all the little dunes you gotta get thru / Id camp in the washes all the time.

People just gotta use a little common sense or we are gonna lose something great!

:poule:

Let's add equity and diversity to the rules, since Glamis is in California. Minorities and lower wage folks get priority camping spots.

Maybe use ghost camps as surplus Ranger truck parking? Get those trucks riiiiiiiiiiiight up to the RVs. Gotta be economical with space…

BTW: wanna ghost camp? Come out to the washes and tuck yourself into an out of the way corner amongst the bushes. There was a camp near our usual spot all season that had multiple tow behind diesel generators and Starlink out. Didn’t even realize it until the end of the season since… Washes.

I literally could not care less if they shut that practice down tomorrow. Disallowing others to enjoy camping where some self centered narsissists hold down spaces they feel entitled to for some reason is BS. I'm at the point in life where I could do the same (retired) but I would not feel right about it knowing what it was like grinding with a young family and not being able to stay on Gekko for decades because we rolled out Fri evening and I had to be back on Sunday to provide. Once again I bit on a summer topic.....

If you want to end ghost camping just takes 1 guy with balls and a match burn then all one night

the government won’t enforce the rules but vigilantes can

Is that overkill ? Sure it is,same kind of thing could be used on real criminals and really improve society

We're getting closer to that every day.  People will only take so much.

Wash 6?

but in reality why not build a few more pads that would help. i'm in the washes plenty of room and i don't think anyone cares if someone ghost camps because there is room.
