Driving out of a hole then immediately inflating, I doubt you could go too low short of no air.
For the record: the wife’s X3 has run 7-8psi in all 4 tires for 8 years now. No beadlocks.

Airing down if your chassis is touching the sand isn't going to help. If you let the chassis hit sand you are f'd. In reality, if you actually did that...
You'd lower the chassis deeper into the sand.
Take my advice. Just avoid getting stuck in the first place!
