I know we've had this TOPic before. I'm looking at a 1 Ton Diesel truck. Cummins makes the (6cyl) 6.7. Ford makes the 6.7 (8cyl) Haven't shopped the Chevy yet. I need a truck that can pull my trailers. I've got too many trailers and nothing but a work truck to pull. This will be the last truck I buy. What is your experience. Peace

Seems like the guys who have a personal business towing vehicles use Dodge.

X-2 on wopachop said…you see mostly the Dodge’s working on that level. I know in the film biz it was almost purely Ford for stakebed for decades, but in the last 5+ years fleets have been transitioning to Dodge.

The 3500 with Cummins and Aisin transmission is an excellent combo.

Never owned a Dodge Tho. Done Chevy and Ford's. Even INTL trucks. Never a Dodge. Peace

Inline 6 cylinder seem to last longer.

If I’m doing nothing but towing…. Ram/Cummins/Austin is the way to go. They are down and dirty work trucks. If I’m doing a combo of towing and daily driving, I prefer Ford. If I’m doing mostly daily with occasional towing, Chevy due to independent front suspension road driving comfort. They ride smoother the the straight front axles of the Ford and Ram. All 3 are very reliable at this point, emissions issues have improved a ton since the systems have been around a while now if you don’t plan on deleting. The Rams are down and dirty work trucks that don’t quit. Fords are rocket ships especially with the 10 speed trans. I currently have a 2019 F250 power stroke. Best truck I’ve ever owned. Tows amazing, not terrible road handling. I did level it and put Icon reservoirs on it which makes it ride way better than stock. My last truck was a Big Horn Ram with Cummins. Towed great, but handled and felt like a farm truck for all work and no play. It was slow out of the hole but we don’t buy a truck like that to street race. If I was going brand new right now it would be a tough choice. Fuel economy was way better with the Ram not towing, but from what i understand, the new 10 speed trans mated to the power stroke improved economy. All depends on what you need/want it for. Happy shopping and hopefully you don’t have to pay Vid 19 pricing….

It was for a long while that the 3 similarly equipped, the Dodge was cheaper.

GM for me.  I'd buy the GMC over the Chevy as I like the grille better...

The new gas engines would be on my radar if i was in the market...just seems like less likely to have issues and pretty close to the same capabilities. Plus cheaper in the long run by thousands. Chevy or GMC for me regardless.

This is exactly my thoughts as well.

You ARE in texas so you really have no choice.  You have to get a dodge and then take the cat and muffler off so it sounds like a UPS truck coming down the street.... seems to be the thing to do in Texas.

Open Headers Y'ALL. Peace

Can't miss on any of the big three.  Plant your butt in each seat and see what feels the best or grab a pair of boxing gloves and go 13 rounds with a sales manager and see who gives you the best deal.

When I was selling my old Dodge and buying a newer truck I had a budget a milage and a list of must haves.

Ford was the best one that I found and it has been a flawless comfortable truck so far.

I bleed with the best of them. Peace

GMC/Chevy has some upgrade coming in 2024...out early next year.

New Duramax has 475hp with 975 lb ft torque, upgraded interior.

The gas version gets the new 10 spd trans as well...I may be looking at that when they come out.

Trucks on the lot may affect your decision.  Sounds like stock around the country is still slim and special orders are taking a long time.

I was at a Chevy dealer several months back.  They had tons of 1500's but only 3 2500's.
