Camp RZR Polaris

GLAMIS WEATHER
I was actually wondering if the 6 dollar plus a gal for fuel is going to slow SOME people down.. Guess would have to look at whats going on at the Lake/river to see if fuel prices are slowing anyone down?

We need less people. Starting to think Bill Gates is on to something.
I disagree. I have seen countless riding areas closed down. Over and over again. Spotted owl, milkvetch, lynx, times infinity. This is the result of a growing population of people using public lands, poorly utilized taxes/collected funds, and less land to recreate on. We are corralled into riding areas with easily enforced choke points that have us camp on top of each other. And you and I are partially to blame. We've been a small part of bringing people in to Glamis for a long time. It's not just this generation (Comp hill in the nineties was nuts), or the Mexicans, the SXS drivers, or the new long travel rail owners who wrote a check to be a bad ass. We need room to spread out and more land to enjoy. Google says a big weekend will pull 100K to 200K visitors. Is that 25000 passes issued? That's $4,600,000 in fees generated. Roughly. I think that is a conservative estimate.

It's funny, cause the most people are super concentrated in a small section of the entire area.

Look at this area map and consider how small a portion of the dunes are actually used.

Connect Gecko to Gordons, how expensive are pads to build and maintain.

Extending Gecko would be the biggest cost, but then BLM has more area to patrol, we make it easy congesting the area right off the hwy.

Environmental law has been weaponized to achieve a result, in California’s case the “result” is twofold, the unionization of the workforce and public lands being shutdown to the off-road community.
Labor unions use environmental law to hold up projects until they get their demands met. The unions partner with environmental groups using their studies / influence to identify and weaponize a plant, animal or issue (storm water abatement) to gain concessions in order to step aside and allow the project to proceed.
The settlements allowing the project to proceed are Project Labor Agreements that ban non-union workers from the project AND a healthy donation to the partnering environmental group.
If any of us are “partially responsible” it would be our indifference when California was raiding (borrowing) our offroad funds to backfill our General Fund.
Every time a Project Labor Agreement is signed we’re funding an environmental group that has the elimination of us recreating on public land. This process is a slot machine for labor unions and environmental groups that pays off every time.
Refusing to identify an enemy is no way to enter a battlefield, we’ve spent years fighting the symptom while being blissfully ignorant of the problem. The unholy alliance between labor unions and environmental groups like “CURE” put tons off money into politician’s war chests, efforts to close off public property and Labor Union bosses hands.
The labor union / environmental group cabal know we won’t do anything about their extortion, we’ve got bigger fish to fry, like pre-wrapping those fillets with bacon and finding our favorite coozies before heading out to compete for a camping spot in the sand that’s getting smaller year after year.

If any of us are “partially responsible”
That quote specifically targets Brian and I and a host of others who have spent a large portion of time over our lives encouraging people to come to Glamis via this website. Like those before me when the internet was newish, I found a way to learn about my hobby and help those who seeked info about it. We literally are responsible for bringing large amounts of people into the sport. I look back on the early days and am proud of the small part I played in providing solid information and encouragement. The flipside of that is there is no stuffing that genie in the bottle.

I would think that like you guys, the folks I’m responsible for bringing out to Glamis are not the people we should be concerned about leaving trash, disrespecting other camps, void of dune etiquette and / or trying to get by without buying a pass.
My comment was supposed to be generalized, I could have / should have worded it better.
In the grand scheme of things having too many people isn’t the biggest problem we face in Glamis.

A lot proud people in recreational sports that like to show their new toys to the fellow enthusiasts, this keeps us all together.
If you rail does a wheel stand and no one see it, what good was said wheel stand?
New SXS, ground effects lights, extra lit whips (possible three or four) and super sounds system out in middle of the dunes with no one to clap. No fun.
Havasu! same same

NEVER going to happen...."they", by "they" I mean the BLM, doesn't want us there period. IF they could shut it ALL down they would, and they have been, slowly piece by piece...it's "their" plan. Unless and Until people wake up, hint, they won't, we will continue to lose access until it is ALL gone. Can you imagine the mess if they had a road all the way, with pads to camp on? The BLM would HATE it.....plus even if they wanted to do that....the Enviro pieces of shit and judges would tie it up well past the time I leave this earth. To quote the Hangover...."We fucked up"!....we were asleep and let the idiots be in power...we will Never recover from that.

For myself, zero interest being in the Dunes that weekend. I won't even stay on NYE anymore, I go home.

I am at fault for telling people how awesome Glamis is, in the early 2000's our group was almost 80 people in camp, so much drama. I started being the camp nazi and ask people not to camp with us anymore, got the group down to 20 regulars. I hate big groups now.

I think it’s double edged: I’ve met with Neil a number of times. He puts his free time in to talk to user groups at after hours meetings. I’ve never gotten the feeling he wants to shut the place down, and he seemed to genuinely care about improving the experience there.

He also has a department of people who have to deal with an unruly bunch. Those of us who frequent Glamis have a screw loose. We don’t think like normal people, plain and simple. This creates some tension when you have a bunch of Rangers sent here to enforce laws with people they think are crazy.

The last President to give a shit about this and fight for OUR use of OUR land was Bush.

That was a LONG time ago. I fear, far too long for us to have any leverage, ever again. That ship has sailed.

Trump doesn't give a fuck. I honestly wouldn't be one bit surprised if he and some of his buddies acquire public lands to profit, from.

If the BLM doesn't want us there and want to shut it down wouldn't they be out of a job?

I've seen Silky slap a ho, his ho's are welcome anytime
If the BLM doesn't want us there and want to shut it down wouldn't they be out of a job?

It is the .GOV, what they want changes with leadership no doubts...

ISDRA attracts the highest concentration of OHV visitors of any BLM recreation area nationwide, welcoming over 1.2 million visitors annually = $$$ Spent, but also $$$$ brought in.

They still have to Patrol the "closed" areas....they don't care....they are fanatical about keeping people out....They always have been. Since the asshole tackled the phantom Duck in the B2V protest ride from the 80s.....They are NOT our friends.

He's NOT stupid, he would never let you know how they really feel. All the years of "interaction" and feedback we've given them and we still get shit on every year by the BLM....I mean look at the $$$$$ they are pouring into a fancy new station? For what????????????? So they can be pampered and the peasants will foot the bill.

Trump has done more in his 5 yrs to restore access to public lands than ANY other US president. You hate him, I get it, but don't let your emotions cloud the facts.
